Chaos is shown to occur in the flexible shaft rotating-lifting (FSRL) system of the mono-silicon crystal puller. Chaos is, however, harmful for the quality of mono-silicon crystal production. Therefore, it should be suppressed. Many chaos control methods have been proposed theoretically and some have even been used in applications. For a practical plant displaying harmful chaos, engineers from a specified area usually face with the challenge to identifying chaos and to suppressing it by using a proper method. However, despite of the existing methods, chaos control method selection in the FSRL system is not a trivial task. For example, for the OGY method, if one cannot find a practical adjustable parameter, then the OGY method cannot be applied. An impulsive control method is being proposed which is efficiently able to suppress chaos in the FSRL system. The selection of the control parameters is obtained by using the Melnikov method. Simulation results show the correctness of our theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed chaos control method.

Silicon crystal puller (SCP) is a key equipment in silicon wafer manufacture, which is, in turn, the base material for the most currently used integrated circuit (IC) chips. With the development of the techniques, the demand for longer mono-silicon c rystal rod with larger diameter is continuously increasing in order to reduce the manufacture time and the price of the wafer. This demand calls for larger SCP with increasing height, however, it causes serious swing phenomenon of the crystal seed. The strong swing of the seed causes difficulty in the solidification and increases the risk of mono-silicon growth failure. The main aim of this paper is to analyze the nonlinear dynamics in the FSRL system of the SCP. A mathematical model for the swing motion of the FSRL system is derived. The influence of relevant parameters, such as system damping, excitation amplitude and rotation speed, on the stability and the responses of the system are analyzed. The stability of the equilibrium, bifurcation and chaotic motion are demonstrated, which are often observed in practical situations. Melnikov method is used to derive the possible parameter region that leads to chaotic motion. Three routes to chaos are identified in the FSRL system, including period doubling, symmetry-breaking bifurcation and interior crisis. The work in this paper explains the complex dynamics in the FSRL system of the SCP, which will be helpful for the SCP designers in order to avoid the swing phenomenon in the SCP.
The induction motor controlled by Indirect Field Oriented Control (IFOC) is known to have high performance and better stability. This paper reports the dynamical behavior of an indirect field oriented control (IFOC) induction motor drive in the light of bifurcation theory. The speed of high performance induction motor drive is controlled by IFOC method. The knowledge of qualitative change of the behavior of the motor such as equilibrium points, limit cycles and chaos with the change of motor parameters and load torque are essential for proper control of the motor. This paper provides a numerical approach to understand better the dynamical behavior of an indirect field oriented control of a current-fed induction motor. The focus is on bifurcation analysis of the IFOC motor, with a particular emphasis on the change that affects the dynamics and stability under small variations of Proportional Integral controller (PI) parameters, load torque and k, the ratio of the rotor time constant and its estimate etc. Bifurcation diagrams are computed. This paper also attempts to discuss various types of the transition to chaos in the induction motor. The results of the obtained bifurcation simulations give useful guidelines for adjusting both motor model and PI controller parameters. It is also important to ensure desired operation of the motor when the motor shows chaotic behavior. Infinite numbers of unstable periodic orbits are embedded in a chaotic attractor. Any unstable periodic orbit can be stabilized by proper control algorithm. The delayed feedback control method to control chaos has been implemented in this system.
A three-component dynamic system with influence of pumping and nonlinear dissipation describing a quantum cavity electrodynamic device is studied. Different dynamical regimes are investigated in terms of divergent trajectories approaches and fractal statistics. It has been shown, that in such a system stable and unstable dissipative structures type of limit cycles can be formed with variation of pumping and nonlinear dissipation rate. Transitions to chaotic regime and the corresponding chaotic attractor are studied in details.

Secure communication using hyperchaos has a better potential performance, but hyperchaotic impulse circuits synchronization is a challenging task. In this paper, an impulse control method is proposed for the synchronization of two hyperchaotic Chen c ircuits. The sufficient conditions for the synchronization of hyperchaotic systems using the impulse control are given. The upper bound of the impulse interval is derived to assure the synchronization error system to be asymptotically stable. Simulation and circuit experiment show the correctness of the analysis and feasibility of the proposed method.

In this article we synchronize by active control method all 19 identical Sprott systems provided in paper [10]. Particularly, we find the corresponding active controllers as well as we perform (as an example) the numerical synchronization of two Sprott-A models.
