We report measurements of electron spin echo envelope modulation (ESEEM) performed at millikelvin temperatures in a custom-built high-sensitivity spectrometer based on superconducting micro-resonators. The high quality factor and small mode volume (down to 0.2pL) of the resonator allow to probe a small number of spins, down to $5cdot 10^2$. We measure 2-pulse ESEEM on two systems: erbium ions coupled to $^{183}$W nuclei in a natural-abundance $text{CaWO}_4$ crystal, and bismuth donors coupled to residual $^{29}$Si nuclei in a silicon substrate that was isotopically enriched in the $^{28}$Si isotope. We also measure 3- and 5-pulse ESEEM for the bismuth donors in silicon. Quantitative agreement is obtained for both the hyperfine coupling strength of proximal nuclei, and the nuclear spin concentration.

The use of entangled states was shown to improve the fundamental limits of spectroscopy to beyond the standard-quantum limit. In these Heisenberg-limited protocols the phase between two states in an entangled superposition evolves N-fold faster than in the uncorrelated case, where N for example can be the number of entangled atoms in a Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state. Here we propose and demonstrate the use of correlated spin-Hamiltonians for the realization of Heisenberg-limited Rabi-type spectroscopy. Rather than probing the free evolution of the phase of an entangled state with respect to a local oscillator (LO), we probe the evolution of an, initially separable, two-atom register under an Ising spin-Hamiltonian with a transverse field. The resulting correlated spin-rotation spectrum is twice as narrow as compared with uncorrelated rotation. We implement this Heisenberg-limited Rabi spectroscopy scheme on the optical-clock electric-quadrupole transition of $^{88}$Sr$^+$ using a two-ion crystal. We further show that depending on the initial state, correlated rotation can occur in two orthogonal sub-spaces of the full Hilbert space, yielding Heisenberg-limited spectroscopy of either the average transition frequency of the two ions or their difference from the mean frequency. The potential improvement of clock stability due to the use of entangled states depends on the details of the method used and the dominating decoherence mechanism. The use of correlated spin-rotations can therefore potentially lead to new paths for clock stability improvement.
The antihydrogen programme of the ASACUSA collaboration at the antiproton decelerator of CERN focuses on Rabi-type measurements of the ground-state hyperfine splitting of antihydrogen for a test of the combined Charge-Parity-Time symmetry. The spectr oscopy apparatus consists of a microwave cavity to drive hyperfine transitions and a superconducting sextupole magnet for quantum state analysis via Stern-Gerlach separation. However, the small production rates of antihydrogen forestall comprehensive performance studies on the spectroscopy apparatus. For this purpose a hydrogen source and detector have been developed which in conjunction with ASACUSAs hyperfine spectroscopy equipment form a complete Rabi experiment. We report on the formation of a cooled, polarized, and time modulated beam of atomic hydrogen and its detection using a quadrupole mass spectrometer and a lock-in amplification scheme. In addition key features of ASACUSAs hyperfine spectroscopy apparatus are discussed.t

We analyze the effects of hyperfine interactions on coherent control experiments in triple quantum dots. By exploiting Hamiltonian symmetries and the SU(3) structure of the triple-dot system under pseudo-exchange and longitudinal hyperfine couplings, we provide analytic formulae for the hyperfine decay of triple-dot Rabi and dephasing experiments.
Measurements of hyperfine polarization quantum beats are used determine the magnetic dipole (A) and electric quadrupole (B) coupling constants in the excited atomic Cs 8p level. The experimental approach is a novel combination of pulsed optical pumpi ng and time-delayed stimulated emission probing of the excited level. From the measured evolution of the atomic linear polarization degree as a function of probe delay time, we determine the hyperfine coupling constants A = 7.42(6) MHz and B = 0.14(29) MHz.
We present a technique for squeezed light detection based on direct imaging of the displaced-squeezed-vacuum state using a CCD camera. We show that the squeezing parameter can be accurately estimated using only the first two moments of the recorded p ixel-to-pixel photon fluctuation statistics, with accuracy that rivals that of the standard squeezing detection methods such as a balanced homodyne detection. Finally, we numerically simulate the camera operation, reproducing the noisy experimental results with low signal samplings and confirming the theory with high signal samplings.
