We study quantum corrections to holographic entanglement entropy in AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$; these are given by the bulk entanglement entropy across the Ryu-Takayanagi surface for all fields in the effective gravitational theory. We consider bulk $U(1)$ gauge fields and gravitons, whose dynamics in AdS$_3$ are governed by Chern-Simons terms and are therefore topological. In this case the relevant Hilbert space is that of the edge excitations. A novelty of the holographic construction is that such modes live not only on the bulk entanglement cut but also on the AdS boundary. We describe the interplay of these excitations and provide an explicit map to the appropriate extended Hilbert space. We compute the bulk entanglement entropy for the CFT vacuum state and find that the effect of the bulk entanglement entropy is to renormalize the relation between the effective holographic central charge and Newtons constant. We also consider excited states obtained by acting with the $U(1)$ current on the vacuum, and compute the difference in bulk entanglement entropy between these states and the vacuum. We compute this UV-finite difference both in the bulk and in the CFT finding a perfect agreement.

We consider the refinement of the holographic entanglement entropy for the holographic dual theories to the AdS solitons and AdS black holes, including the corrected ones by the Gauss-Bonnet term. The refinement is obtained by extracting the UV-indep endent piece of the holographic entanglement entropy, the so-called renormalized entanglement entropy which is independent of the choices of UV cutoff. Our main results are (i) the renormalized entanglement entropies of the AdS$_{d+1}$ soliton for $d=4,5$ are neither monotonically decreasing along the RG flow nor positive definite, especially around the deconfinement/confinement phase transition; (ii) there is no topological entanglement entropy for AdS$_5$ soliton even with Gauss-Bonnet correction; (iii) for the AdS black holes, the renormalized entanglement entropy obeys an expected volume law at IR regime, and the transition between UV and IR regimes is a smooth crossover even with Gauss-Bonnet correction; (iv) based on AdS/MERA conjecture, we postulate that the IR fixed-point state for the non-extremal AdS soliton is a trivial product state.
We study the behavior of holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) for imbalanced holographic superconductors. We employ a numerical approach to consider the robust case of fully back-reacted gravity system. The hairy black hole solution is found by usi ng our numerical scheme. Then it is used to compute the HEE for the superconducting case. The cases we study show that in presence of a mismatch between two chemical potentials, below the critical temperature, superconducting phase has a lower HEE in comparison to the AdS-Reissner-Nordstrom black hole phase. Interestingly, the effects of chemical imbalance are different in the contexts of black hole and superconducting phases. For black hole, HEE increases with increasing imbalance parameter while it behaves oppositely for the superconducting phase. The implications of these results are discussed.

From the partition function for two classes of classically non-local actions containing the fractional Laplacian, we show that as long as there exists a suitable (non-local) Hilbert-space transform the underlying action can be mapped onto a purely lo cal theory. In all such cases the partition function is equivalent to that of a local theory and an area law for the entanglement entropy obtains. When such a reduction fails, the entanglement entropy deviates strongly from an area law and can in some cases scale as the volume. As these two criteria are coincident, we conjecture that they are equivalent and provide the ultimate test for locality of Gaussian theories rather than a simple inspection of the explicit operator content.

The Ryu-Takayanagi conjecture contradicts $1+1$-dimensional CFT if we apply it to two far disjoint intervals because it predicts the product state. Instead of the conventional conjecture, we propose a holographic entanglement entropy formula that the entanglement entropy of two disjoint intervals is described by the appropriate sum of the area of signed extremal curves. We confirm that the resulting holographic entanglement entropy is consistent with the entanglement entropy for the specific two disjoint intervals evaluated in the large $c$ limit CFT.

The partial entanglement entropy (PEE) $s_{mathcal{A}}(mathcal{A}_i)$ characterizes how much the subset $mathcal{A}_i$ of $mathcal{A}$ contribute to the entanglement entropy $S_{mathcal{A}}$. We find one additional physical requirement for $s_{mathca l{A}}(mathcal{A}_i)$, which is the invariance under a permutation. The partial entanglement entropy proposal satisfies all the physical requirements. We show that for Poincare invariant theories the physical requirements are enough to uniquely determine the PEE (or the entanglement contour) to satisfy a general formula. This is the first time we find the PEE can be uniquely determined. Since the solution of the requirements is unique and the textit{PEE proposal} is a solution, the textit{PEE proposal} is justified for Poincare invariant theories.
