The multi-domain image-to-image translation is a challenging task where the goal is to translate an image into multiple different domains. The target-only characteristics are desired for translated images, while the source-only characteristics should be erased. However, recent methods often suffer from retaining the characteristics of the source domain, which are incompatible with the target domain. To address this issue, we propose a method called Untraceable GAN, which has a novel source classifier to differentiate which domain an image is translated from, and determines whether the translated image still retains the characteristics of the source domain. Furthermore, we take the prototype of the target domain as the guidance for the translator to effectively synthesize the target-only characteristics. The translator is learned to synthesize the target-only characteristics and make the source domain untraceable for the discriminator, so that the source-only characteristics are erased. Finally, extensive experiments on three face editing tasks, including face aging, makeup, and expression editing, show that the proposed UGAN can produce superior results over the state-of-the-art models. The source code will be released.

Can faces acquired by low-cost depth sensors be useful to catch some characteristic details of the face? Typically the answer is no. However, new deep architectures can generate RGB images from data acquired in a different modality, such as depth dat a. In this paper, we propose a new textit{Deterministic Conditional GAN}, trained on annotated RGB-D face datasets, effective for a face-to-face translation from depth to RGB. Although the network cannot reconstruct the exact somatic features for unknown individual faces, it is capable to reconstruct plausible faces; their appearance is accurate enough to be used in many pattern recognition tasks. In fact, we test the network capability to hallucinate with some textit{Perceptual Probes}, as for instance face aspect classification or landmark detection. Depth face can be used in spite of the correspondent RGB images, that often are not available due to difficult luminance conditions. Experimental results are very promising and are as far as better than previously proposed approaches: this domain translation can constitute a new way to exploit depth data in new future applications.
We introduce GANHopper, an unsupervised image-to-image translation network that transforms images gradually between two domains, through multiple hops. Instead of executing translation directly, we steer the translation by requiring the network to pr oduce in-between images that resemble weighted hybrids between images from the input domains. Our network is trained on unpaired images from the two domains only, without any in-between images. All hops are produced using a single generator along each direction. In addition to the standard cycle-consistency and adversarial losses, we introduce a new hybrid discriminator, which is trained to classify the intermediate images produced by the generator as weighted hybrids, with weights based on a predetermined hop count. We also add a smoothness term to constrain the magnitude of each hop, further regularizing the translation. Compared to previous methods, GANHopper excels at image translations involving domain-specific image features and geometric variations while also preserving non-domain-specific features such as general color schemes.
State-of-the-art techniques in Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have shown remarkable success in image-to-image translation from peer domain X to domain Y using paired image data. However, obtaining abundant paired data is a non-trivial and exp ensive process in the majority of applications. When there is a need to translate images across n domains, if the training is performed between every two domains, the complexity of the training will increase quadratically. Moreover, training with data from two domains only at a time cannot benefit from data of other domains, which prevents the extraction of more useful features and hinders the progress of this research area. In this work, we propose a general framework for unsupervised image-to-image translation across multiple domains, which can translate images from domain X to any a domain without requiring direct training between the two domains involved in image translation. A byproduct of the framework is the reduction of computing time and computing resources, since it needs less time than training the domains in pairs as is done in state-of-the-art works. Our proposed framework consists of a pair of encoders along with a pair of GANs which learns high-level features across different domains to generate diverse and realistic samples from. Our framework shows competing results on many image-to-image tasks compared with state-of-the-art techniques.
Domain translation is the process of transforming data from one domain to another while preserving the common semantics. Some of the most popular domain translation systems are based on conditional generative adversarial networks, which use source do main data to drive the generator and as an input to the discriminator. However, this approach does not enforce the preservation of shared semantics since the conditional input can often be ignored by the discriminator. We propose an alternative method for conditioning and present a new framework, where two networks are simultaneously trained, in a supervised manner, to perform domain translation in opposite directions. Our method is not only better at capturing the shared information between two domains but is more generic and can be applied to a broader range of problems. The proposed framework performs well even in challenging cross-modal translations, such as video-driven speech reconstruction, for which other systems struggle to maintain correspondence.
We present a novel and unified deep learning framework which is capable of learning domain-invariant representation from data across multiple domains. Realized by adversarial training with additional ability to exploit domain-specific information, th e proposed network is able to perform continuous cross-domain image translation and manipulation, and produces desirable output images accordingly. In addition, the resulting feature representation exhibits superior performance of unsupervised domain adaptation, which also verifies the effectiveness of the proposed model in learning disentangled features for describing cross-domain data.
