There exist many ways to stabilize an infinite-dimensional linear autonomous control systems when it is possible. Anyway, finding an exponentially stabilizing feedback control that is as simple as possible may be a challenge. The Riccati theory provides a nice feedback control but may be computationally demanding when considering a discretization scheme. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) offers a popular way to reduce large-dimensional systems. In the present paper, we establish that, under appropriate spectral assumptions, an exponentially stabilizing feedback Riccati control designed from a POD finite-dimensional approximation of the system stabilizes as well the infinite-dimensional control system.

The synthesis of suboptimal feedback laws for controlling nonlinear dynamics arising from semi-discretized PDEs is studied. An approach based on the State-dependent Riccati Equation (SDRE) is presented for H2 and Hinf control problems. Depending on t he nonlinearity and the dimension of the resulting problem, offline, online, and hybrid offline-online alternatives to the SDRE synthesis are proposed. The hybrid offline-online SDRE method reduces to the sequential solution of Lyapunov equations, effectively enabling the computation of suboptimal feedback controls for two-dimensional PDEs. Numerical tests for the Sine-Gordon, degenerate Zeldovich, and viscous Burgers PDEs are presented, providing a thorough experimental assessment of the proposed methodology.
In this article, global stabilization results for the two dimensional (2D) viscous Burgers equation, that is, convergence of unsteady solution to its constant steady state solution with any initial data, are established using a nonlinear Neumann boun dary feedback control law. Then, applying $C^0$-conforming finite element method in spatial direction, optimal error estimates in $L^infty(L^2)$ and in $L^infty(H^1)$- norms for the state variable and convergence result for the boundary feedback control law are derived. All the results preserve exponential stabilization property. Finally, several numerical experiments are conducted to confirm our theoretical findings.
In this paper, we investigate the estimator-based output feedback control problem of multi-delay systems. This work is an extension of recently developed operator-value LMI framework for infinite-dimensional time-delay systems. Based on the optimal c onvex state feedback controller and generalized Luenberger observer synthesis conditions we already have, the estimator-based output feedback controller is designed to contain the estimates of both the present state and history of the state. An output feedback controller synthesis condition is proposed using SOS method, which is expressed in a set of LMI/SDP constraints. The simulation examples are displayed to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed results.

This paper proposes the use of a Spectral method to simulate diffusive moisture transfer through porous materials as a Reduced-Order Model (ROM). The Spectral approach is an a priori method assuming a separated representation of the solution. The met hod is compared with both classical Euler implicit and Crank-Nicolson schemes, considered as large original models. Their performance - in terms of accuracy, complexity reduction and CPU time reduction - are discussed for linear and nonlinear cases of moisture diffusive transfer through single and multi-layered one-dimensional domains, considering highly moisture-dependent properties. Results show that the Spectral reduced-order model approach enables to simulate accurately the field of interest. Furthermore, numerical gains become particularly interesting for nonlinear cases since the proposed method can drastically reduce the computer run time, by a factor of 100, when compared to the traditional Crank-Nicolson scheme for one-dimensional applications.

At the quantum level, feedback-loops have to take into account measurement back-action. We present here the structure of the Markovian models including such back-action and sketch two stabilization methods: measurement-based feedback where an open qu antum system is stabilized by a classical controller; coherent or autonomous feedback where a quantum system is stabilized by a quantum controller with decoherence (reservoir engineering). We begin to explain these models and methods for the photon box experiments realized in the group of Serge Haroche (Nobel Prize 2012). We present then these models and methods for general open quantum systems.
