Single crystals of a honeycomb lattice antiferromagnet, Tb$_2$Ir$_3$Ga$_9$ were synthesized, and the physical properties have been studied. From magnetometry, a long-range antiferromagnetic ordering at $approx$12.5 K with highly anisotropic magnetic behavior was found. Neutron powder diffraction confirms that the Tb spins lie along the $va $-axis, parallel to the shortest Tb-Tb contact. Two field-induced spin-flip transitions are observed when the field is applied parallel to this axis, separated by a plateau corresponding roughly to M$approx$M$_{rm{s}}$/2. Transport measurements show the resistivity to be metallic with a discontinuity at the onset of Neel order. Heat capacity shows a $lambda$-like transition confirming the bulk nature of the magnetism. We propose a phenomenological spin-Hamiltonian that describes the magnetization plateau as a result of strong Ising character arising from a quasidoublet ground state of the Tb$^{3+}$ ion in a site of textit{C$_s$} symmetry and expressing a significant bond dependent anisotropy.

The magnetic excitations in CoPS$_3$, a two-dimensional van der Waals (vdW) antiferromagnet with spin $S=3/2$ on a honeycomb lattice, has been measured using powder inelastic neutron scattering. Clear dispersive spin waves are observed with a large s pin gap of ~13 meV. The magnon spectra were fitted using an $XXZ$-type $J_1-J_2-J_3$ Heisenberg Hamiltonian with a single-ion anisotropy assuming no magnetic exchange between the honeycomb layers. The best-fit parameters show ferromagnetic exchange $J_1=-2.08$ meV and $J_2=-0.26$ meV for the nearest and second-nearest neighbors and a sizeable antiferromagnetic exchange $J_3=4.21$ meV for the third-nearest neighbor with the strong easy-axis anisotropy $K=-2.06$ meV. The suitable fitting could only be achieved by the anisotropic $XXZ$-type Hamiltonian, in which the exchange interaction for the out-of-plane component is smaller than that for the in-plane one by a ratio $alpha=J_z/J_x=0.6$. Moreover, the absence of spin-orbit exciton around 30 meV indicates that Co$^{2+}$ ions in CoPS$_3$ have a $S=3/2$ state rather than a spin-orbital entangled $J_rm{eff}=1/2$ ground state. Our result directly shows that CoPS$_3$ is an experimental realization of the $XXZ$ model with a honeycomb lattice in 2D vdW magnets.

We report a $^{71}$Ga nuclear-quadrupole-resonance (NQR) study on the characteristics of superconductivity in noncentrosymmetric Ir$_2$Ga$_9$ at zero field (H=0). The $^{71}$Ga-NQR measurements have revealed that $1/T_1$ has the clear coherence peak just below $T_{rm c}$, and decreases exponentially upon further cooling in Ir$_2$Ga$_9$. From these results, Ir$_2$Ga$_9$ is concluded to be the conventional s-wave superconductor. Despite the lack of spatial centrosymmetry, there are no evidence for unconventional superconducting state ascribed to ASOC in Ir$_2$Ga$_9$.

We have grown single crystals of Na$_2$BaNi(PO$_4$)$_2$, a new spin-1 equilateral triangular lattice antiferromagnet (ETLAF), and performed magnetic susceptibility, specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements at ultralow temperatures. The mai n results are (i) at zero magnetic field, Na$_2$BaNi(PO$_4$)$_2$ exhibits a magnetic ordering at 430 mK with a weak ferromagnetic moment along the $c$ axis. This suggests a canted 120$^circ$ spin structure, which is in a plane including the crystallographic $c$ axis due to the existence of an easy-axis anisotropy and ferromagnetically stacked along the $c$ axis; (ii) with increasing field along the $c$ axis, a 1/3 magnetization plateau is observed which means the canted 120$^circ$ spin structure is transformed to a up up down (UUD) spin structure. With even higher fields, the UUD phase further evolves to possible V and V phases; (iii) with increasing field along the $a$ axis, the canted 120$^circ$ spin structure is possibly transformed to a umbrella phase and a V phase. Therefore, Na$_2$BaNi(PO$_4$)$_2$ is a rare example of spin-1 ETLAF with single crystalline form to exhibit easy-axis spin anisotropy and series of quantum spin state transitions.
Magnetic-field effect on the magnetic and electric properties in a chiral polar ordered corundum Ni$_2$InSbO$_6$ has been investigated. Single-crystal soft x-ray and neutron diffraction measurements confirm long-wavelength magnetic modulation. The mo dulation direction tends to align along the magnetic field applied perpendicular to the polar axis, suggesting that the nearly proper-screw type helicoid should be formed below 77,K. The application of a high magnetic field causes a metamagnetic transition. In a magnetic field applied perpendicular to the polar axis, a helix-to-canted antiferromagnetic transition takes place through the intermediate soliton lattice type state. On the other hand, a magnetic field applied along the polar axis induces a first-order metamagnetic transition. These metamagnetic transitions accompany a change in the electric polarization along the polar axis.
In this paper, the magnetic and transport properties were systematically studied for EuAg$_4$As$_2$ single crystals, crystallizing in a centrosymmetric trigonal CaCu$_4$P$_2$ type structure. It was confirmed that two magnetic transitions occur at $te xtit{T}$$_{N1}$ = 10 K and $textit{T}$$_{N2}$ = 15 K, respectively. With the increasing field, the two transitions are noticeably driven to lower temperature. At low temperatures, applying a magnetic field in the $textit{ab}$ plane induces two successive metamagnetic transitions. For both $textit{H}$ $parallel$ $textit{ab}$ and $textit{H}$ $parallel$ $textit{c}$, EuAg$_4$As$_2$ shows a positive, unexpected large magnetoresistance (up to 202%) at low fields below 10 K, and a large negative magnetoresistance (up to -78%) at high fields/intermediate temperatures. Such anomalous field dependence of magnetoresistance may have potential application in the future magnetic sensors. Finally, the magnetic phase diagrams of EuAg$_{4}$As$_{2}$ were constructed for both $textit{H}$ $parallel$ $textit{ab}$ and $textit{H}$ $parallel$ $textit{c}$.
