Topological magnetic semimetals promise large Berry curvature through the distribution of the topological Weyl nodes or nodal lines and further novel physics with exotic transport phenomena. We present a systematic study of the structural and magnetotransport properties of Co$_2$MnGa films from thin (20 nm) to bulk like behavior (80 nm), in order to understand the underlying mechanisms and the role on the topology. The magnetron sputtered Co$_2$MnGa films are $L$$2_{mathrm {1}}$-ordered showing very good heteroepitaxy and a strain-induced tetragonal distortion. The anomalous Hall conductivity was found to be maximum at a value of 1138 S/cm, with a corresponding anomalous Hall angle of 13 %, which is comparatively larger than topologically trivial metals. There is a good agreement between the theoretical calculations and the Hall conductivity observed for the 80 nm film, which suggest that the effect is intrinsic. Thus, the Co$_2$MnGa compound manifests as a promising material towards topologically-driven spintronic applications.

Ferromagnetic Co$_2$MnGa has recently attracted significant attention due to effects related to non-trivial topology of its band structure, however a systematic study of canonical magneto-galvanic transport effects is missing. Focusing on high qualit y thin films, here we systematically measure anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and its thermoelectric counterpart (AMTP). We model the AMR data by free energy minimisation within the Stoner-Wohlfarth formalism and conclude that both crystalline and non-crystalline components of this magneto-transport phenomenon are present in Co$_2$MnGa. Unlike the AMR which is small in relative terms, the AMTP is large due to a change of sign of the Seebeck coefficient as a function of temperature. This fact is discussed in the context of the Mott rule and further analysis of AMTP components is presented.
We report a robust anomalous Nernst effect in Co2MnGa thin films in the thickness regime between 20 and 50 nm. The anomalous Nernst coefficient varied in the range of -2.0 to -3.0 uV/K at 300 K. We demonstrate that the anomalous Hall and Nernst coeff icients exhibit similar behavior and fulfill the Mott relation. We simultaneously measure all four transport coefficients of the longitudinal resistivity, transversal resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, and anomalous Nernst coefficient. We connect the values of the measured and calculated Nernst conductivity by using the remaining three magneto-thermal transport coefficients, where the Mott relation is still valid. The intrinsic Berry curvature dominates the transport due to the relation between the longitudinal and transversal transport. Therefore, we conclude that the Mott relationship is applicable to describe the magneto-thermoelectric transport in Weyl semimetal Co2MnGa as a function of film thickness.

We study Hall effect in sputtered NixPt1-x thin films with different Ni concentrations. Temperature, magnetic field and angular dependencies are analyzed and the phase diagram of NiPt thin films is obtained. It is found that films with sub-critical N i concentration exhibit cluster-glass behavior at low temperatures with a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy below the freezing temperature. Films with over-critical Ni concentration are ferromagnetic with parallel anisotropy. At the critical concentration the state of the film is strongly frustrated. Such films demonstrate canted magnetization with the easy axis rotating as a function of temperature. The magnetism appears via consecutive paramagnetic - cluster glass - ferromagnetic transitions, rather than a single second-order phase transition. But most remarkably, the extraordinary Hall effect changes sign at the critical concentration. We suggest that this is associated with a reconstruction of the electronic structure of the alloy at the normal metal - ferromagnet quantum phase transition.
We study the anomalous Hall Effect (AHE) of single-crystalline Co$_3$Sn$_{2-x}$In$_x$S$_2$ over a large range of indium concentration x from 0 to 1. Their magnetization reduces progressively with increasing x while their ground state evolves from a f erromagnetic Weyl semimetal into a nonmagnetic insulator. Remarkably, after systematically scaling the AHE, we find that their intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) features an unexpected maximum at around x = 0.15. The change of the intrinsic AHC corresponds with the doping evolution of Berry curvature and the maximum arises from the magnetic topological nodal-ring gap. Our experimental results show a larger AHC in a fundamental nodal-ring gap than that of Weyl nodes.
A central theme in condensed matter physics is to create and understand the exotic states of matter by incorporating magnetism into topological materials. One prime example is the quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) state. Recently, MnBi2Te4 has been demons trated to be an intrinsic magnetic topological insulator and the QAH effect was observed in exfoliated MnBi2Te4 flakes. Here, we used molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) to grow MnBi2Te4 films with thickness down to 1 septuple layer (SL) and performed thickness-dependent transport measurements. We observed a non-square hysteresis loop in the antiferromagnetic state for films with thickness greater than 2 SL. The hysteresis loop can be separated into two AH components. Through careful analysis, we demonstrated that one AH component with the larger coercive field is from the dominant MnBi2Te4 phase, while the other AH component with the smaller coercive field is from the minor Mn-doped Bi2Te3 phase in the samples. The extracted AH component of the MnBi2Te4 phase shows a clear even-odd layer-dependent behavior, a signature of antiferromagnetic thin films. Our studies reveal insights on how to optimize the MBE growth conditions to improve the quality of MnBi2Te4 films, in which the QAH and other exotic states are predicted.
