We show that an idea, originating initially with a fundamental recursive iteration scheme (usually referred as the Kaczmarz algorithm), admits important applications in such infinite-dimensional, and non-commutative, settings as are central to spectral theory of operators in Hilbert space, to optimization, to large sparse systems, to iterated function systems (IFS), and to fractal harmonic analysis. We present a new recursive iteration scheme involving as input a prescribed sequence of selfadjoint projections. Applications include random Kaczmarz recursions, their limits, and their error-estimates.

It is known in Hilbert space frame theory that a Bessel sequence can be expanded to a frame. Contrary to Hilbert space situation, using a result of Casazza and Christensen, we show that there are Banach spaces and approximate Bessel sequences which c an not be expanded to approximate Schauder frames. We characterize Banach spaces in which one can expand approximate Bessel sequences to approximate Schauder frames.

Wavelet set wavelets were the first examples of wavelets that may not have associated multiresolution analyses. Furthermore, they provided examples of complete orthonormal wavelet systems in $L^2(mathbb{R}^d)$ which only require a single generating w avelet. Although work had been done to smooth these wavelets, which are by definition discontinuous on the frequency domain, nothing had been explicitly done over $mathbb{R}^d$, $d >1$. This paper, along with another one cowritten by the author, finally addresses this issue. Smoothing does not work as expected in higher dimensions. For example, Bin Hans proof of existence of Schwartz class functions which are Parseval frame wavelets and approximate Parseval frame wavelet set wavelets does not easily generalize to higher dimensions. However, a construction of wavelet sets in $hat{mathbb{R}}^d$ which may be smoothed is presented. Finally, it is shown that a commonly used class of functions cannot be the result of convolutional smoothing of a wavelet set wavelet.
A definition of frames for Krein spaces is proposed, which extends the notion of $J$-orthonormal basis of Krein spaces. A $J$-frame for a Krein space $(HH, K{,}{,})$ is in particular a frame for $HH$ in the Hilbert space sense. But it is also compati ble with the indefinite inner product $K{,}{,}$, meaning that it determines a pair of maximal uniformly $J$-definite subspaces with different positivity, an analogue to the maximal dual pair associated to a $J$-orthonormal basis. Also, each $J$-frame induces an indefinite reconstruction formula for the vectors in $HH$, which resembles the one given by a $J$-orthonormal basis.
We prove that iterating projections onto convex subsets of Hadamard spaces can behave in a more complicated way than in Hilbert spaces, resolving a problem formulated by Miroslav Bav{c}ak.

Given a sequence of elements $xi={xi_n}_{nin mathbb{N}}$ of a Hilbert space, an operator $T_xi$ is defined as the operator associated to a sesquilinear form determined by $xi$. This operator is in general different to the classical frame operator but possesses some remarkable properties. For instance, $T_xi$ is self-adjoint (in an specific space), unconditionally defined and, when $xi$ is a lower semi-frame, $T_xi$ gives a simple expression of a dual of $xi$. The operator $T_xi$ and lower semi-frames are studied in the context of sequences of integer translates.
