This survey article, in honor of G. Tians 60th birthday, is inspired by R. Pandharipandes 2002 note highlighting research directions central to Gromov-Witten theory in algebraic geometry and by G. Tians complex-geometric perspective on pseudoholomorphic curves that lies behind many important developments in symplectic topology since the early 1990s.

Quivers, gauge theories and singular geometries are of great interest in both mathematics and physics. In this note, we collect a few open questions which have arisen in various recent works at the intersection between gauge theories, representation theory, and algebraic geometry. The questions originate from the study of supersymmetric gauge theories in different dimensions with different supersymmetries. Although these constitute merely the tip of a vast iceberg, we hope this guide can give a hint of possible directions in future research. This is an invited contribution to a special volume of Proyecciones, E. Gasparim, Ed., and it is the hope that the questions are specific enough for research projects aimed at PhD students.

We construct families of quilted surfaces parametrized by the multiplihedra, and define moduli spaces of pseudoholomorphic quilted disks using the theory of pseudoholomorphic quilts of Wehrheim and Woodward. We prove a gluing theorem for regular, iso lated pseudoholomorphic quilted disks. This analytical result is a fundamental ingredient for the construction of A-infinity functors associated to Lagrangian correspondences.
We construct orientations on moduli spaces of pseudoholomorphic quilts with seam conditions in Lagrangian correspondences equipped with relative spin structures and determine the effect of various gluing operations on the orientations. We also invest igate the behavior of the orientations under composition of Lagrangian correspondences.
We study a cylindrical Lagrangian cobordism group for Lagrangian torus fibres in symplectic manifolds which are the total spaces of smooth Lagrangian torus fibrations. We use ideas from family Floer theory and tropical geometry to obtain both obstruc tions to and constructions of cobordisms; in particular, we give examples of symplectic tori in which the cobordism group has no non-trivial cobordism relations between pairwise distinct fibres, and ones in which the degree zero fibre cobordism group is a divisible group. The results are independent of but motivated by mirror symmetry, and a relation to rational equivalence of 0-cycles on the mirror rigid analytic space.

Given a symplectic three-fold $(M,omega)$ we show that for a generic almost complex structure $J$ which is compatible with $omega$, there are finitely many $J$-holomorphic curves in $M$ of any genus $ggeq 0$ representing a homology class $beta$ in $H _2(M,Z)$ with $c_1(M).beta=0$, provided that the divisibility of $beta$ is at most 4 (i.e. if $beta=nalpha$ with $alphain H_2(M,Z)$ and $nin Z$ then $nleq 4$). Moreover, each such curve is embedded and 4-rigid.
