For the two-dimensional Schrodinger equation, the general form of the point transformations such that the result can be interpreted as a Schrodinger equation with effective (i.e. position dependent) mass is studied. A wide class of such models with different forms of mass function is obtained in this way. Starting from the solvable two-dimensional model, the variety of solvable partner models with effective mass can be built. Several illustrating examples not amenable to the conventional separation of variables are given.

The second-type derivative nonlinear Schrodinger (DNLSII) equation was introduced as an integrable model in 1979. Very recently, the DNLSII equation has been shown by an experiment to be a model of the evolution of optical pulses involving self-steep ening without concomitant self-phase-modulation. In this paper the $n$-fold Darboux transformation (DT) $T_n$ of the coupled DNLSII equations is constructed in terms of determinants. Comparing with the usual DT of the soliton equations, this kind of DT is unusual because $T_n$ includes complicated integrals of seed solutions in the process of iteration. By a tedious analysis, these integrals are eliminated in $T_n$ except the integral of the seed solution. Moreover, this $T_n$ is reduced to the DT of the DNLSII equation under a reduction condition. As applications of $T_n$, the explicit expressions of soliton, rational soliton, breather, rogue wave and multi-rogue wave solutions for the DNLSII equation are displayed.

In this article, we prove the scattering for the quintic defocusing nonlinear Schrodinger equation on cylinder $mathbb{R} times mathbb{T}$ in $H^1$. We establish an abstract linear profile decomposition in $L^2_x h^alpha$, $0 < alpha le 1$, motivated by the linear profile decomposition of the mass-critical Schrodinger equation in $L^2(mathbb{R}^d )$, $dge 1$. Then by using the solution of the one-discrete-component quintic resonant nonlinear Schrodinger system, whose scattering can be proved by using the techniques in $1d$ mass critical NLS problem by B. Dodson, to approximate the nonlinear profile, we can prove scattering in $H^1$ by using the concentration-compactness/rigidity method. As a byproduct of our proof of the scattering of the one-discrete-component quintic resonant nonlinear Schrodinger system, we also prove the conjecture of the global well-posedness and scattering of the two-discrete-component quintic resonant nonlinear Schrodinger system made by Z. Hani and B. Pausader [Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 67 (2014)].
The Schr{o}dinger equation is solved exactly for some well known potentials. Solutions are obtained reducing the Schr{o}dinger equation into a second order differential equation by using an appropriate coordinate transformation. The Nikiforov-Uvarov method is used in the calculations to get energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions.
We solve rigorously the time dependent Schrodinger equation describing electron emission from a metal surface by a laser field perpendicular to the surface. We consider the system to be one-dimensional, with the half-line $x<0$ corresponding to the b ulk of the metal and $x>0$ to the vacuum. The laser field is modeled as a classical electric field oscillating with frequency $omega$, acting only at $x>0$. We consider an initial condition which is a stationary state of the system without a field, and, at time $t=0$, the field is switched on. We prove the existence of a solution $psi(x,t)$ of the Schrodinger equation for $t>0$, and compute the surface current. The current exhibits a complex oscillatory behavior, which is not captured by the simple three step scenario. As $ttoinfty$, $psi(x,t)$ converges with a rate $t^{-frac32}$ to a time periodic function with period $frac{2pi}{omega}$ which coincides with that found by Faisal, Kaminski and Saczuk (Phys Rev A 72, 023412, 2015). However, for realistic values of the parameters, we have found that it can take quite a long time (over 50 laser periods) for the system to converge to its asymptote. Of particular physical importance is the current averaged over a laser period $frac{2pi}omega$, which exhibits a dramatic increase when $hbaromega$ becomes larger than the work function of the metal, which is consistent with the original photoelectric effect.
