We discuss effects of the brane-localized mass terms on the fixed points of the toroidal orbifold $T^2/Z_2$ under the presence of background magnetic fluxes, where multiple lowest and higher-level Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes are realized before introducing the localized masses in general. Through the knowledge of linear algebra, we find that, in each KK level, one of or more than one of the degenerate KK modes are almost inevitably perturbed, when single or multiple brane-localized mass terms are introduced. When the typical scale of the compactification is far above the electroweak scale or the TeV scale, we apply this mechanism for uplifting unwanted massless or light modes which are prone to appear in models on magnetized orbifolds.
We construct families of supersymmetric AdS$_3times Y_7$ and AdS$_3times Y_8$ solutions to type IIB string theory and M-theory, respectively. Here $Y_7$ is an $S^5$ fibration over $Sigma$, while $Y_8$ is an $S^4$ fibration over $Sigma_gtimes Sigma$,
We study the membrane wrapping mode corrections to the Kaluza-Klein (KK) 6-brane in eleven dimensions. We examine the localized KK6-brane in the extended space in $E_{7(7)}$ exceptional field theory. In order to discuss the physical origin of the loc
Intersecting D-brane models and their T-dual magnetic compactifications provide an attractive framework for particle physics, allowing for chiral fermions and supersymmetry breaking. Generically, magnetic compactifications have tachyons that are usua
We present a general model with universal extra dimensions in the presence of the bulk fermion masses and boundary localized kinetic terms, which are generically allowed by symmetries of five dimensional gauge theory. We provide a comprehensive analy
We discuss the modular symmetry and zeros of zero-mode wave functions on two-dimensional torus $T^2$ and toroidal orbifolds $T^2/mathbb{Z}_N$ ($N=2,3,4,6$) with a background homogeneous magnetic field. As is well-known, magnetic flux contributes to t
