We use a deformed differential structure to obtain a curved metric by a deformation quantization of the flat space-time. In particular, by setting the deformation parameters to be equal to physical constants we obtain the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model for inflation and a deformed version of the FRW space-time. By calculating classical Einstein-equations for the extended space-time we obtain non-trivial solutions. Moreover, in this framework we obtain the Moyal-Weyl, i.e. a constant non-commutative space-time, by a consistency condition.

Deformation quantization conventionally is described in terms of multidifferential operators. Jet manifold technique is well-known provide the adequate formulation of theory of differential operators. We extended this formulation to the multidifferen tial ones, and consider their infinite order jet prolongation. The infinite order jet manifold is endowed with the canonical flat connection that provides the covariant formula of a deformation star-product.
We give an explicit local formula for any formal deformation quantization, with separation of variables, on a Kahler manifold. The formula is given in terms of differential operators, parametrized by acyclic combinatorial graphs.
We investigate a systematic approach to include curvature corrections to the isometry algebra of flat space-time order-by-order in the curvature scale. The Poincare algebra is extended to a free Lie algebra, with generalised boosts and translations t hat no longer commute. The additional generators satisfy a level-ordering and encode the curvature corrections at that order. This eventually results in an infinite-dimensional algebra that we refer to as Poincare${}_infty$, and we show that it contains among others an (A)dS quotient. We discuss a non-linear realisation of this infinite-dimensional algebra, and construct a particle action based on it. The latter yields a geodesic equation that includes (A)dS curvature corrections at every order.

A model of discrete space-time is presented which is, in a sense, both Lorentz invariant and has no restriction on the relative velocity between particles (except v < c). The space-time has an inbuilt indeterminacy. Published originally as A quanti sation of time, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen., 10, 2115, 1977; identical to the original, apart from one or two minor corrections, and some simplification towards the end of Section 6. The paper presents a discrete model of time, in which the latter comprises a succession of instants which are identified as collisions with particles called chronons. Proper-time intervals are discrete; the structure of space-time is given by a radar map and has an inbuilt indeterminacy, which leads naturally to Heisenbergs uncertainty principle. If I were writing this paper today I would identify the chronon with the virtual Higgs boson. Without the latter all particles would be massless and would follow null paths; there would be no such thing as proper time. Time is an emergent phenomenon, and the Higgs boson is the agent of that emergence.

A while ago a proposal have been made regarding Klein Gordon and Maxwell Lagrangians for causal set theory. These Lagrangian densities are based on the statistical analysis of the behavior of field on a sample of points taken throughout some small re gion of spacetime. However, in order for that sample to be statistically reliable, a lower bound on the size of that region needs to be imposed. This results in unwanted contributions from higher order derivatives to the Lagrangian density, as well as non-trivial curvature effects on the latter. It turns out that both gravitational and non-gravitational effects end up being highly non-linear. In the previous papers we were focused on leading order terms, which allowed us to neglect these nonlinearities. We would now like to go to the next order and investigate them. In the current paper we will exclusively focus on the effects of higher order derivatives in the flat-space toy model. The gravitational effects will be studied in another paper which is currently in preparation. Both papers are restricted to bosonic fields, although the issue probably generalizes to fermions once Grassmann numbers are dealt with in appropriate manner.
