We discuss an extension of the Jimbo-Miwa-Ueno differential 1-form to a form closed on the full space of extended monodromy data of systems of linear ordinary differential equations with rational coefficients. This extension is based on the results of M. Bertola generalizing a previous construction by B. Malgrange. We show how this 1-form can be used to solve a long-standing problem of evaluation of the connection formulae for the isomonodromic tau functions which would include an explicit computation of the relevant constant factors. We explain how this scheme works for Fuchsian systems and, in particular, calculate the connection constant for generic Painleve VI tau function. The result proves the conjectural formula for this constant proposed in cite{ILT13}. We also apply the method to non-Fuchsian systems and evaluate constant factors in the asymptotics of Painleve II tau function.

We prove a Fredholm determinant and short-distance series representation of the Painleve V tau function $tau(t)$ associated to generic monodromy data. Using a relation of $tau(t)$ to two different types of irregular $c=1$ Virasoro conformal blocks an d the confluence from Painleve VI equation, connection formulas between the parameters of asymptotic expansions at $0$ and $iinfty$ are conjectured. Explicit evaluations of the connection constants relating the tau function asymptotics as $tto 0,+infty,iinfty$ are obtained. We also show that irregular conformal blocks of rank 1, for arbitrary central charge, are obtained as confluent limits of the regular conformal blocks.
For a simple Lie algebra $mathfrak{g}$ and an irreducible faithful representation $pi$ of $mathfrak{g}$, we introduce the Schur polynomials of $(mathfrak{g},pi)$-type. We then derive the Sato-Zhou type formula for tau functions of the Drinfeld-Sokolo v (DS) hierarchy of $mathfrak{g}$-type. Namely, we show that the tau functions are linear combinations of the Schur polynomials of $(mathfrak{g},pi)$-type with the coefficients being the Plucker coordinates. As an application, we provide a way of computing polynomial tau functions for the DS hierarchy. For $mathfrak{g}$ of low rank, we give several examples of polynomial tau functions, and use them to detect bilinear equations for the DS hierarchy.
Skew-orthogonal polynomials (SOPs) arise in the study of the n-point distribution function for orthogonal and symplectic random matrix ensembles. Motivated by the average of characteristic polynomials of the Bures random matrix ensemble studied in [2 2], we propose the concept of partial-skew-orthogonal polynomials (PSOPs) as a modification of the SOPs, and then the PSOPs with a variety of special skew-symmetric kernels and weight functions are addressed. By considering appropriate deformations of the weight functions, we derive nine integrable lattices in different dimensions. As a consequence, the tau-functions for these systems are shown to be expressed in terms of Pfaffians and the wave vectors PSOPs. In fact, the tau-functions also admit the representations of multiple integrals. Among these integrable lattices, some of them are known, while the others are novel to the best of our knowledge. In particular, one integrable lattice is related to the partition function of the Bures random matrix ensemble. Besides, we derive a discrete integrable lattice, which can be used to compute certain vector Pade approximants. This yields the first example regarding the connection between integrable lattices and vector Pade approximants, for which Hietarinta, Joshi and Nijhoff pointed out that This field remains largely to be explored. in the recent monograph [27, Section 4.4] .

We establish the Lagrangian nature of the discrete isospectral and isomonodromic dynamical systems corresponding to the re-factorization transformations of the rational matrix functions on the Riemann sphere. Specifically, in the isospectral case we generalize the Moser-Veselov approach to integrability of discrete systems via the re-factorization of matrix polynomials to a more general class of matrix rational functions that have a simple divisor and, in the quadratic case, explicitly write the Lagrangian function for such systems. Next we show that if we let certain parameters in this Lagrangian to be time-dependent, the resulting Euler-Lagrange equations describe the isomonodromic transformations of systems of linear difference equations. It is known that in some special cases such equations reduce to the difference Painleve equation. As an example, we show how to obtain the difference Painlev`e V equation in this way, and hence we establish that this equation can be written in the Lagrangian form.

We derive Fredholm determinant representation for isomonodromic tau functions of Fuchsian systems with $n$ regular singular points on the Riemann sphere and generic monodromy in $mathrm{GL}(N,mathbb C)$. The corresponding operator acts in the direct sum of $N(n-3)$ copies of $L^2(S^1)$. Its kernel has a block integrable form and is expressed in terms of fundamental solutions of $n-2$ elementary 3-point Fuchsian systems whose monodromy is determined by monodromy of the relevant $n$-point system via a decomposition of the punctured sphere into pairs of pants. For $N=2$ these building blocks have hypergeometric representations, the kernel becomes completely explicit and has Cauchy type. In this case Fredholm determinant expansion yields multivariate series representation for the tau function of the Garnier system, obtained earlier via its identification with Fourier transform of Liouville conformal block (or a dual Nekrasov-Okounkov partition function). Further specialization to $n=4$ gives a series representation of the general solution to Painleve VI equation.
