We report on an observation of a fractional quantum Hall effect in an ultra-high quality two-dimensional hole gas hosted in a strained Ge quantum well. The Hall resistance reveals precisely quantized plateaus and vanishing longitudinal resistance at filling factors $ u = 2/3, 4/3$ and $5/3$. From the temperature dependence around $ u = 3/2$ we obtain the composite fermion mass of $m^star approx 0.4,m_e$, where $m_e$ is the mass of a free electron. Owing to large Zeeman energy, all observed states are spin-polarized and can be described in terms of spinless composite fermions.
We report a magneto-transport study of a two-dimensional hole gas confined to a strained Ge quantum well grown on a relaxed Si0.2Ge0.8 virtual substrate. The conductivity of the hole gas measured as a function of a perpendicular magnetic field exhibi
The temperature dependence of microwave-induced resistance oscillations (MIRO), according to the theory, originates from electron-electron scattering. This scattering affects both the quantum lifetime, or the density of states, and the inelastic life
Using acoustic method we study dependences of transverse AC conductance, $sigma (omega)$, on magnetic field, temperature and the amplitude of AC electric field in a wide (75 nm) quantum well (QW) structure focusing on the vicinity of the filling fact
Composite fermions in fractional quantum Hall (FQH) systems are believed to form a Fermi sea of weakly interacting particles at half filling $ u=1/2$. Recently, it was proposed (D. T. Son, Phys. Rev. X 5, 031027 (2015)) that these composite fermions
The effective g-factor of 2D holes in modulation doped mbox{p-SiGe/Ge/SiGe} structures was studied. The AC conductivity of samples with hole densities from $3.9 times 10^{11}$~to $6.2 times 10^{11}~text{cm}^{-2}$ was measured in perpendicular magneti
