Holomorphic fields play an important role in 2d conformal field theory. We generalize them to d>2 by introducing the notion of Cauchy conformal fields, which satisfy a first order differential equation such that they are determined everywhere once we know their value on a codimension 1 surface. We classify all the unitary Cauchy fields. By analyzing the mode expansion on the unit sphere, we show that all unitary Cauchy fields are free in the sense that their correlation functions factorize on the 2-point function. We also discuss the possibility of non-unitary Cauchy fields and classify them in d=3 and 4.

We propose a roadmap for bootstrapping conformal field theories (CFTs) described by gauge theories in dimensions $d>2$. In particular, we provide a simple and workable answer to the question of how to detect the gauge group in the bootstrap calculati on. Our recipe is based on the notion of emph{decoupling operator}, which has a simple (gauge) group theoretical origin, and is reminiscent of the null operator of $2d$ Wess-Zumino-Witten CFTs in higher dimensions. Using the decoupling operator we can efficiently detect the rank (i.e. color number) of gauge groups, e.g., by imposing gap conditions in the CFT spectrum. We also discuss the physics of the equation of motion, which has interesting consequences in the CFT spectrum as well. As an application of our recipes, we study a prototypical critical gauge theory, namely the scalar QED which has a $U(1)$ gauge field interacting with critical bosons. We show that the scalar QED can be solved by conformal bootstrap, namely we have obtained its kinks and islands in both $d=3$ and $d=2+epsilon$ dimensions.
We formulate four-dimensional conformal gravity with (Anti-)de Sitter boundary conditions that are weaker than Starobinsky boundary conditions, allowing for an asymptotically subleading Rindler term concurrent with a recent model for gravity at large distances. We prove the consistency of the variational principle and derive the holographic response functions. One of them is the conformal gravity version of the Brown-York stress tensor, the other is a `partially massless response. The on-shell action and response functions are finite and do not require holographic renormalization. Finally, we discuss phenomenologically interesting examples, including the most general spherically symmetric solutions and rotating black hole solutions with partially massless hair.
Non-conformal supercurrents in six dimensions are described, which contain the trace of the energy-momentum tensor and the gamma-trace of the supersymmetry current amongst their component fields. Within the superconformal approach to ${cal N} = (1, 0 )$ supergravity, we present various distinct non-conformal supercurrents, one of which is associated with an ${cal O}(2)$ (or linear) multiplet compensator, while another with a tensor multiplet compensator. We also derive an infinite class of non-conformal supercurrents involving ${cal O}(n)$ multiplets with $n > 2$. As an illustrative example we construct the relaxed hypermultiplet in supergravity. Finally, we put forward a non-conformal supercurrent in the ${cal N} = (2, 0)$ supersymmetric case.
We construct, by a procedure involving a dimensional reduction from a Chern-Simons theory with borders, an effective theory for a 1+1 dimensional superconductor. 1That system can be either in an ordinary phase or in a topological one, depending on th e value of two phases, corresponding to complex order parameters. Finally, we argue that the original theory and its dimensionally reduced one can be related to the effective action for a quantum Dirac field in a slab geometry, coupled to a gauge field.
We study the implications of scale invariance in four-dimensional quantum field theories. Imposing unitarity, we find that infinitely many matrix elements vanish in a suitable kinematical configuration. This vanishing is a nontrivial necessary condit ion for conformality. We provide an argument why this is expected to be a sufficient condition as well, thereby linking scale and conformal invariance in unitary theories. We also discuss possible exceptions to our argument.
