Enterprise Mobility has been increasing the reach over the years. Initially Mobile devices were adopted as consumer devices. However, the enterprises world over have rightly taken the leap and started using the ubiquitous technology for managing its employees as well as to reach out to the customers. While the Mobile ecosystem has been evolving over the years, the increased exposure of mobility in Enterprise framework have caused major focus on the security aspects of it. While a significant focus have been put on network security, this paper discusses on the approach that can be taken at Mobile application layer, which would reduce the risk to the enterprises.

The dramatic growth in smartphone malware shows that malicious program developers are shifting from traditional PC systems to smartphone devices. Therefore, security researchers are also moving towards proposing novel antimalware methods to provide a dequate protection. This paper proposes a Blockchain-Based Malware Detection Framework (B2MDF) for detecting malicious mobile applications in mobile applications marketplaces (app stores). The framework consists of two internal and external private blockchains forming a dual private blockchain as well as a consortium blockchain for the final decision. The internal private blockchain stores feature blocks extracted by both static and dynamic feature extractors, while the external blockchain stores detection results as blocks for curre
Download fraud is a prevalent threat in mobile App markets, where fraudsters manipulate the number of downloads of Apps via various cheating approaches. Purchased fake downloads can mislead recommendation and search algorithms and further lead to bad user experience in App markets. In this paper, we investigate download fraud problem based on a companys App Market, which is one of the most popular Android App markets. We release a honeypot App on the App Market and purchase fake downloads from fraudster agents to track fraud activities in the wild. Based on our interaction with the fraudsters, we categorize download fraud activities into three types according to their intentions: boosting front end downloads, optimizing App search ranking, and enhancing user acquisition&retention rate. For the download fraud aimed at optimizing App search ranking, we select, evaluate, and validate several features in identifying fake downloads based on billions of download data. To get a comprehensive understanding of download fraud, we further gather stances of App marketers, fraudster agencies, and market operators on download fraud. The followed analysis and suggestions shed light on the ways to mitigate download fraud in App markets and other social platforms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that investigates the download fraud problem in mobile App markets.
Cloud computing as a potential paradigm offers tremendous advantages to enterprises. With the cloud computing, the markets entrance time is reduced, computing capabilities is augmented and computing power is really limitless. Usually, to use the full power of cloud computing, cloud users has to rely on external cloud service provider for managing their data. Nevertheless, the management of data and services are probably not fully trustworthy. Hence, data owners are uncomfortable to place their sensitive data outside their own system .i.e., in the cloud. Bringing transparency, trustworthiness and security in the cloud model, in order to fulfill clients requirements are still ongoing. To achieve this goal, our paper introduces two levels security framework: Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and Cloud Service User (CSU). Each level is responsible for a particular task of the security. The CSU level includes a proxy agent and a trust agent, dealing with the first verification. Then a second verification is performed at the CSP level. The framework incorporates a trust model to monitor users behaviors. The use of mobile agents will exploit their intrinsic features such as mobility, deliberate localization and secure communication channel provision. This model aims to protect users sensitive information from other internal or external users and hackers. Moreover, it can detect policy breaches, where the users are notified in order to take necessary actions when malicious access or malicious activity would occur.
In modern programming languages, exception handling is an effective mechanism to avoid unexpected runtime errors. Thus, failing to catch and handle exceptions could lead to serious issues like system crashing, resource leaking, or negative end-user e xperiences. However, writing correct exception handling code is often challenging in mobile app development due to the fast-changing nature of API libraries for mobile apps and the insufficiency of their documentation and source code examples. Our prior study shows that in practice mobile app developers cause many exception-related bugs and still use bad exception handling practices (e.g. catch an exception and do nothing). To address such problems, in this paper, we introduce two novel techniques for recommending correct exception handling code. One technique, XRank, recommends code to catch an exception likely occurring in a code snippet. The other, XHand, recommends correction code for such an occurring exception. We have developed ExAssist, a code recommendation tool for exception handling using XRank and XHand. The empirical evaluation shows that our techniques are highly effective. For example, XRank has top-1 accuracy of 70% and top-3 accuracy of 87%. XHands results are 89% and 96%, respectively.
The various types of communication technologies and mobility features in Internet of Things (IoT) on the one hand enable fruitful and attractive applications, but on the other hand facilitates malware propagation, thereby raising new challenges on ha ndling IoT-empowered malware for cyber security. Comparing with the malware propagation control scheme in traditional wireless networks where nodes can be directly repaired and secured, in IoT, compromised end devices are difficult to be patched. Alternatively, blocking malware via patching intermediate nodes turns out to be a more feasible and practical solution. Specifically, patching intermediate nodes can effectively prevent the proliferation of malware propagation by securing infrastructure links and limiting malware propagation to local device-to-device dissemination. This article proposes a novel traffic-aware patching scheme to select important intermediate nodes to patch, which applies to the IoT system with limited patching resources and response time constraint. Experiments on real-world trace datasets in IoT networks are conducted to demonstrate the advantage of the proposed traffic-aware patching scheme in alleviating malware propagation.
