We theoretically study electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in reflection spectra of V-type system at the gas-solid interface. In addition to a narrow dip arising from the EIT effect, we find the other particular saturation effect induced by pump field, which does not exist in $Lambda$ or $Xi$ -type system reflection spectra. The saturation effect only induces an intensity decrement in the reflection spectra, and there is no influence on the narrow dip arising from the EIT effect. We detailedly calculate and analyze the dependence of V-type system reflection spectra on probe field intensity, pump field intensity, coherent decay rate, and the initial population after the collision between atoms and the interface.

Recent years have seen vast progress in the generation and detection of structured light, with potential applications in high capacity optical data storage and continuous variable quantum technologies. Here we measure the transmission of structured l ight through cold rubidium atoms and observe regions of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT). We use q-plates to generate a probe beam with azimuthally varying phase and polarisation structure, and its right and left circular polarisation components provide the probe and control of an EIT transition. We observe an azimuthal modulation of the absorption profile that is dictated by the phase and polarisation structure of the probe laser. Conventional EIT systems do not exhibit phase sensitivity. We show, however, that a weak transverse magnetic field closes the EIT transitions, thereby generating phase dependent dark states which in turn lead to phase dependent transparency, in agreement with our measurements.
We report electromagnetically induced transparency for the D1 and D2 lines in $^{6}$Li in both a vapour cell and an atomic beam. Electromagnetically induced transparency is created using co-propagating mutually coherent laser beams with a frequency d ifference equal to the hyperfine ground state splitting of 228.2 MHz. The effects of various optical polarization configurations and applied magnetic fields are investigated. In addition, we apply an optical Ramsey spectroscopy technique which further reduces the observed resonance width.
Pulse delay with the group velocity dispersion (GVD) characteristics was studied in the V-type electromagnetically induced transparency in the hyperfine levels of $^{85}Rb$ atoms with a closed system configuration. The phase coherency between the pum p and the probe laser beams was maintained. We studied the pulse delay and the group velocity dispersion characteristics with the variation of the pump Rabi frequency taking temperature as a parameter. We observed a maximum of $268$ $ns$ pulse delay for $21.24 MHz$ pump Rabi frequency at $55^0C$ temperature of the Rb vapour cell. For a better understanding of the experimental results, we have derived an analytical solution for the delay characteristics considering the thermal averaging. The analytical solution was derived for a three level V-type system. The theoretical plots of the delay and the group velocity dispersion show the same characteristics as we observed in the experiment. This analytical approach can be further generalized for the higher level schemes to calculate different quantities such as susceptibility, group velocity delay or group velocity dispersion characteristics.
We study, theoretically and experimentally, electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in two different solid-state systems. Unlike many implementations in homogeneously broadened media, these systems exhibit inhomogeneous broadening of their opt ical and spin transitions typical of solid-state materials. We observe EIT lineshapes typical of atomic gases, including a crossover into the regime of Autler-Townes splitting, but with the substitution of the inhomogeneous widths for the homogeneous values. We obtain quantitative agreement between experiment and theory for the width of the transparency feature over a range of optical powers and inhomogeneous linewidths. We discuss regimes over which analytical and numerical treatments capture the behavior. As solid-state systems become increasingly important for scalable and integratable quantum optical and photonic devices, it is vital to understand the effects of the inhomogeneous broadening that is ubiquitous in these systems. The treatment presented here can be applied to a variety of systems, as exemplified by the common scaling of experimental results from two different systems.
We report on rubidium vapor-cell Rydberg electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a 0.7~T magnetic field where all involved levels are in the hyperfine Paschen-Back regime, and the Rydberg state exhibits a strong diamagnetic interaction with the magnetic field. Signals from both $^{85}mathrm{Rb}$ and $^{87}mathrm{Rb}$ are present in the EIT spectra. This feature of isotope-mixed Rb cells allows us to measure the field strength to within a $pm 0.12$% relative uncertainty. The measured spectra are in excellent agreement with the results of a Monte Carlo calculation and indicate unexpectedly large Rydberg-level dephasing rates. Line shifts and broadenings due to small inhomogeneities of the magnetic field are included in the model.
