Dynamical systems often contain oscillatory forces or depend on periodic potentials. Time or space periodicity is reflected in the properties of these systems through a dependence on the parameters of their periodic terms. In this paper we provide a general theoretical framework for dealing with these kinds of systems, regardless of whether they are classical or quantum, stochastic or deterministic, dissipative or nondissipative, linear or nonlinear, etc. In particular, we are able to show that simple symmetry considerations determine, to a large extent, how their properties depend functionally on some of the parameters of the periodic terms. For the sake of illustration, we apply this formalism to find the functional dependence of the expectation value of the momentum of a Bose-Einstein condensate, described by the Gross-Pitaewskii equation, when it is exposed to a sawtooth potential whose amplitude is periodically modulated in time. We show that, by using this formalism, a small set of measurements is enough to obtain the functional form for a wide range of parameters. This can be very helpful when characterizing experimentally the response of systems for which performing measurements is costly or difficult.

We review here {it Maximum Caliber} (Max Cal), a general variational principle for inferring distributions of paths in dynamical processes and networks. Max Cal is to dynamical trajectories what the principle of {it Maximum Entropy} (Max Ent) is to e quilibrium states or stationary populations. In Max Cal, you maximize a path entropy over all possible pathways, subject to dynamical constraints, in order to predict relative path weights. Many well-known relationships of Non-Equilibrium Statistical Physics -- such as the Green-Kubo fluctuation-dissipation relations, Onsagers reciprocal relations, and Prigogines Minimum Entropy Production -- are limited to near-equilibrium processes. Max Cal is more general. While it can readily derive these results under those limits, Max Cal is also applicable far from equilibrium. We give recent examples of MaxCal as a method of inference about trajectory distributions from limited data, finding reaction coordinates in bio-molecular simulations, and modeling the complex dynamics of non-thermal systems such as gene regulatory networks or the collective firing of neurons. We also survey its basis in principle, and some limitations.
We calculate in detail the Renyi entanglement entropies of cTPQ states as a function of subsystem volume, filling the details of our prior work [Nature Communications 9, 1635 (2018)], where the formulas were first presented. Working in a limit of lar ge total volume, we find universal formulas for the Renyi entanglement entropies in a region where the subsystem volume is comparable to that of the total system. The formulas are applicable to the infinite temperature limit as well as general interacting systems. For example we find that the second Renyi entropy of cTPQ states in terms of subsystem volume is written universally up to two constants, $S_2(ell)=-ln K(beta)+ellln a(beta)-lnleft(1+a(beta)^{-L+2ell}right)$, where $L$ is the total volume of the system and $a$ and $K$ are two undetermined constants. The uses of the formulas were already presented in our prior work and we mostly concentrate on the theoretical aspect of the formulas themselves. Aside from deriving the formulas for the Renyi Page curves, the expression for the von Neumann Page curve is also derived, which was not presented in our previous work.
A prepotential approach to constructing the quantum systems with dynamical symmetry is proposed. As applications, we derive generalizations of the hydrogen atom and harmonic oscillator, which can be regarded as the systems with position-dependent mas s. They have the symmetries which are similar to the corresponding ones, and can be solved by using the algebraic method.

A nonperturbative theory is developed, aiming at an exact and efficient evaluation of a general quantum system interacting with arbitrary bath environment at any temperature and in the presence of arbitrary time-dependent external fields. An exact hi erarchical equations of motion formalism is constructed on the basis of calculus-on-path-integral algorithm, via the auxiliary influence generating functionals related to the interaction bath correlation functions in a parametrization expansion form. The corresponding continued-fraction Greens functions formalism for quantum dissipation is also presented. Proposed further is the principle of residue correction, not just for truncating the infinite hierarchy, but also for incorporating the small residue dissipation that may arise from the practical difference between the true and the parametrized bath correlation functions. The final residue-corrected hierarchical equations of motion can therefore be used practically for the evaluation of arbitrary dissipative quantum systems.
Random dynamical systems (RDS) evolve by a dynamical rule chosen independently with a certain probability, from a given set of deterministic rules. These dynamical systems in an interval reach a steady state with a unique well-defined probability den sity only under certain conditions, namely Pelikans criterion. We investigate and characterize the steady state of a bounded RDS when Pelikans criterion breaks down. In this regime, the system is attracted to a common fixed point (CFP) of all the maps, which is attractive for at least one of the constituent mapping functions. If there are many such fixed points, the initial density is shared among the CFPs; we provide a mapping of this problem with the well known hitting problem of random walks and find the relative weights at different CFPs. The weights depend upon the initial distribution.
