We consider the dynamics of the motion of a particle of mass M and spin J in AdS_3. The study reveals the presence of different dynamical sectors depending on the relative values of M, J and the AdS_3 radius R. For the subcritical M^2 R^2-J^2 >0 and supercritical M^2 R^2-J^2<0 cases, it is seen that the equations of motion give the geodesics of AdS_3. For the critical case M^2R^2=J^2 there exist extra gauge transformations which further reduce the physical degrees of freedom, and the motion corresponds to the geodesics of AdS_2. This result should be useful in the holographic interpretation of the entanglement entropy for 2d conformal field theories with gravitational anomalies.

Following the idea of Alekseev and Shatashvili we derive the path integral quantization of a modified relativistic particle action that results in the Feynman propagator of a free field with arbitrary spin. This propagator can be associated with the Duffin, Kemmer, and Petiau (DKP) form of a free field theory. We show explicitly that the obtained DKP propagator is equivalent to the standard one, for spins 0 and 1. We argue that this equivalence holds also for higher spins.
We reconsider a model of two relativistic particles interacting via a multiplicative potential, as an example of a simple dynamical system with sectors, or branches, with different dynamics and degrees of freedom. The presence or absence of sectors de pends on the values of rest masses. Some aspects of the canonical quantization are described. The model could be interpreted as a bigravity model in one dimension.
It has recently been argued that, classically, massless higher spin theories in AdS_3 have an enlarged W_N-symmetry as the algebra of asymptotic isometries. In this note we provide evidence that this symmetry is realised (perturbatively) in the quant um theory. We perform a one loop computation of the fluctuations for a massless spin $s$ field around a thermal AdS_3 background. The resulting determinants are evaluated using the heat kernel techniques of arXiv:0911.5085. The answer factorises holomorphically, and the contributions from the various spin $s$ fields organise themselves into vacuum characters of the W_N symmetry. For the case of the hs(1,1) theory consisting of an infinite tower of massless higher spin particles, the resulting answer can be simply expressed in terms of (two copies of) the MacMahon function.
We study extremal curves associated with a functional which is linear in the curves torsion. The functional in question is known to capture the properties of entanglement entropy for two-dimensional conformal field theories with chiral anomalies and has potential applications in elucidating the equilibrium shape of elastic linear structures. We derive the equations that determine the shape of its extremal curves in general ambient spaces in terms of geometric quantities. We show that the solutions to these shape equations correspond to a three-dimensional version of Mathissons helical motions for the centers of mass of spinning probes. Thereafter, we focus on the case of maximally symmetric spaces, where solutions correspond to cylindrical helices and find that the Lancret ratio of these equals the relative speed between the Mathisson-Pirani and the Tulczyjew-Dixon observers. Finally, we construct all possible helical motions in three-dimensional manifolds with constant negative curvature. In particular, we discover a rich space of helices in AdS$_3$ which we explore in detail.
We investigate generalized interacting dark matter-dark energy scenarios with a time-dependent coupling parameter, allowing also for freedom in the neutrino sector. The models are tested in the phantom and quintessence regimes, characterized by an eq uation of state $w_x<-1$ and $w_x>-1$, respectively. Our analyses show that for some of the scenarios the existing tensions on the Hubble constant $H_0$ and on the clustering parameter $S_8$ can be significantly alleviated. The relief is either due to textit{(a)} a dark energy component which lies within the phantom region; or textit{(b)} the presence of a dynamical coupling in quintessence scenarios. The inclusion of massive neutrinos into the interaction schemes does not affect neither the constraints on the cosmological parameters nor the bounds on the total number or relativistic degrees of freedom $N_{rm eff}$, which are found to be extremely robust and, in general, strongly consistent with the canonical prediction $N_{rm eff}=3.045$. The most stringent bound on the total neutrino mass $M_{ u}$ is $M_{ u}<0.116$ eV and it is obtained within a quintessence scenario in which the matter mass-energy density is only mildly affected by the presence of a dynamical dark sector coupling.
