Post-sphaleron baryogenesis, a fresh and profound mechanism of baryogenesis accounts for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of our present universe in a framework of Pati-Salam symmetry. We attempt here to embed this mechanism in a non-SUSY SO(10) grand unified theory by reviving a novel symmetry breaking chain with Pati-Salam symmetry as an intermediate symmetry breaking step and as well to address post-sphaleron baryogenesis and neutron-antineutron oscillation in a rational manner. The Pati-Salam symmetry based on the gauge group $SU(2)_L times SU(2)_{R} times SU(4)_C$ is realized in our model at $10^{5}-10^{6}$ GeV and the mixing time for the neutron-antineutron oscillation process having $Delta B=2$ is found to be $tau_{n-bar{n}} simeq 10^{8}-10^{10},mbox{secs}$ with the model parameters which is within the reach of forthcoming experiments. Other novel features of the model includes low scale right-handed $W^{pm}_R$, $Z_R$ gauge bosons, explanation for neutrino oscillation data via gauged inverse (or extended) seesaw mechanism and most importantly TeV scale color sextet scalar particles responsible for observable $n-bar{n}$ oscillation which can be accessible to LHC. We also look after gauge coupling unification and estimation of proton life-time with and without the addition of color sextet scalars.

Proton decay is one of the most important predictions of the grand unified theory (GUT). In the supersymmetric (SUSY) GUT, proton decays via the dimension-five operators need to be suppressed. In the $SO(10)$ model where ${bf 10}+overline{bf 126}$ Hi ggs fields couple to fermions, neutrino oscillation parameters including the CP-violating Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (PMNS) phase can be related to the Yukawa couplings to generate the dimension-five operators in the unified framework. We show how the suppressed proton decay depends on the PMNS phase, and stress the importance of the precise measurements of the PMNS phase as well as the neutrino 23-mixing angle. These become especially important if the SUSY particles are found around less than a few TeV at LHC and proton decays are observed at Hyper-Kamiokande and DUNE experiments in the near future.

SO(10) GUT models with only small Higgs fields use higher-dimensional operators to generate realistic fermion mass matrices. In particular, a Higgs field in the spinor representation, 16^d_H, acquires a weak scale vev. We include the weak vev of the corresponding field bar{16}^u_H and investigate the effect on two successful models, one by Albright and Barr (AB) and another by Babu, Pati and Wilczek (BPW). We find that the BPW model is a particular case within a class of models with identical fermion masses and mixings. In contrast, we expect corrections to the parameters of AB-type models.
An analytical formalism, including RG running at two loop order, is used to link the supersymmetric and GUT spectra in any GUT model in which the three gauge couplings unify. In each specific GUT model, one can then fully explore the interplay betwee n the pattern of supersymmetry breaking and the prediction for the proton lifetime. With this formalism at hand, we study three concrete GUT models: (i) Minimal SU(5) SUSY GUT, (ii) Missing Partner SU(5) SUSY GUT, and (iii) an orbifold SU(5) SUSY GUT. In each case we derive interesting conclusions about the possible patterns of the supersymmetric spectrum once the present limits on the proton lifetime are imposed, and vice versa, we obtain the predictions for the proton lifetime for specific viable choices of the SUSY spectrum.
A recently proposed scenario for baryogenesis, called post--sphaleron baryogenesis (PSB) is discussed within a class of quark--lepton unified framework based on the gauge symmetry SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x SU(4)_c realized in the multi--TeV scale. The bary on asymmetry of the universe in this model is produced below the electroweak phase transition temperature after the sphalerons have decoupled from the Hubble expansion. These models embed naturally the seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses, and predict color-sextet scalar particles in the TeV range which may be accessible to the LHC experiments. A necessary consequence of this scenario is the baryon number violating Delta B=2 process of neutron--antineutron (n-bar{n}) oscillations. In this paper we show that the constraints of PSB, when combined with the neutrino oscillation data and restrictions from flavor changing neutral currents mediated by the colored scalars imply an upper limit on the n-bar{n} oscillation time of 5 x 10^{10} sec. regardless of the quark--lepton unification scale. If this scale is relatively low, in the (200-250) TeV range, tau_{n-bar{n}} is predicted to be less than 10^{10} sec., which is accessible to the next generation of proposed experiments.

The apparent unification of gauge couplings around 10^16 GeV is one of the strong arguments in favor of Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model (SM). In this contribution two new analyses of the gauge coupling running, the latter using in con trast to previous studies not data at the Z peak but at LEP2 energies, are presented. The generic SUSY scale in the more precise novel approach is 93 < M_SUSY < 183 GeV, easily within LHC, and possibly even within Tevatron reach.
