We address the problem of finding the capacity of noisy networks with either independent point-to-point compound channels (CC) or arbitrarily varying channels (AVC). These channels model the presence of a Byzantine adversary which controls a subset of links or nodes in the network. We derive equivalence results showing that these point-to-point channels with state can be replaced by noiseless bit-pipes without changing the network capacity region. Exact equivalence results are found for the CC model, and for some instances of the AVC, including all nonsymmetrizable AVCs. These results show that a feedback path between the output and input of a CC can increase the equivalent capacity, and that if common randomness can be established between the terminals of an AVC (either by feedback, a forward path, or via a third-party node), then again the equivalent capacity can increase. This leads to an observation that deleting an edge of arbitrarily small capacity can cause a significant change in network capacity. We also analyze an example involving an AVC for which no fixed-capacity bit-pipe is equivalent.

In this paper, a novel framework is proposed to enable air-to-ground channel modeling over millimeter wave (mmWave) frequencies in an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) wireless network. First, an effective channel estimation approach is developed to coll ect mmWave channel information allowing each UAV to train a local channel model via a generative adversarial network (GAN). Next, in order to share the channel information between UAVs in a privacy-preserving manner, a cooperative framework, based on a distributed GAN architecture, is developed to enable each UAV to learn the mmWave channel distribution from the entire dataset in a fully distributed approach. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the optimal network structure that maximizes the learning rate for information sharing in the distributed network are derived. Simulation results show that the learning rate of the proposed GAN approach will increase by sharing more generated channel samples at each learning iteration, but decrease given more UAVs in the network. The results also show that the proposed GAN method yields a higher learning accuracy, compared with a standalone GAN, and improves the average rate for UAV downlink communications by over 10%, compared with a baseline real-time channel estimation scheme.
Channel matrix sparsification is considered as a promising approach to reduce the progressing complexity in large-scale cloud-radio access networks (C-RANs) based on ideal channel condition assumption. In this paper, the research of channel sparsific ation is extend to practical scenarios, in which the perfect channel state information (CSI) is not available. First, a tractable lower bound of signal-to-interferenceplus-noise ratio (SINR) fidelity, which is defined as a ratio of SINRs with and without channel sparsification, is derived to evaluate the impact of channel estimation error. Based on the theoretical results, a Dinkelbach-based algorithm is proposed to achieve the global optimal performance of channel matrix sparsification based on the criterion of distance. Finally, all these results are extended to a more challenging scenario with pilot contamination. Finally, simulation results are shown to evaluate the performance of channel matrix sparsification with imperfect CSIs and verify our analytical results.
In this paper, we consider the topological interference management (TIM) problem in a dynamic setting, where an adversary perturbs network topology to prevent the exploitation of sophisticated coding opportunities (e.g., interference alignment). Focu sing on a special class of network topology - chordal networks - we investigate algorithmic aspects of the TIM problem under adversarial topology perturbation. In particular, given the adversarial perturbation with respect to edge insertion/deletion, we propose a dynamic graph coloring algorithm that allows for a constant number of re-coloring updates against each inserted/deleted edge to achieve the information-theoretic optimality. This is a sharp reduction of the general graph re-coloring, whose optimal number of updates scales as the size of the network, thanks to the delicate exploitation of the structural properties of weakly chordal graphs.
In a traditional $(H, r)$ combination network, each user is connected to a unique set of $r$ relays. However, few research efforts to consider $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network problem where each $u$ users are connected to a unique set of $ r$ relays. A naive strategy to obtain a coded caching scheme for $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network is by $u$ times repeated application of a coded caching scheme for a traditional $(H, r)$ combination network. Obviously, the transmission load for each relay of this trivial scheme is exactly $u$ times that of the original scheme, which implies that as the number of users multiplies, the transmission load for each relay will also multiply. Therefore, it is very meaningful to design a coded caching scheme for $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network with lower transmission load for each relay. In this paper, by directly applying the well known coding method (proposed by Zewail and Yener) for $(H, r)$ combination network, a coded caching scheme (ZY scheme) for $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network is obtained. However, the subpacketization of this scheme has exponential order with the number of users, which leads to a high implementation complexity. In order to reduce the subpacketization, a direct construction of a coded caching scheme for $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network is proposed by means of Combinational Design Theory, where the parameter $u$ must be a combinatorial number. For arbitrary parameter $u$, a hybrid construction of a coded caching scheme for $(H, r, u)$ multiaccess combination network is proposed based on our direct construction. Theoretical and numerical analysis show that our last two schemes have smaller transmission load for each relay compared with the trivial scheme, and have much lower subpacketization compared with ZY scheme.
In this paper, the problem of enhancing the virtual reality (VR) experience for wireless users is investigated by minimizing the occurrence of breaks in presence (BIP) that can detach the users from their virtual world. To measure the BIP for wireles s VR users, a novel model that jointly considers the VR application type, transmission delay, VR video quality, and users awareness of the virtual environment is proposed. In the developed model, the base stations (BSs) transmit VR videos to the wireless VR users using directional transmission links so as to provide high data rates for the VR users, thus, reducing the number of BIP for each user. Since the body movements of a VR user may result in a blockage of its wireless link, the location and orientation of VR users must also be considered when minimizing BIP. The BIP minimization problem is formulated as an optimization problem which jointly considers the predictions of users locations, orientations, and their BS association. To predict the orientation and locations of VR users, a distributed learning algorithm based on the machine learning framework of deep (ESNs) is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses concept from federated learning to enable multiple BSs to locally train their deep ESNs using their collected data and cooperatively build a learning model to predict the entire users locations and orientations. Using these predictions, the user association policy that minimizes BIP is derived. Simulation results demonstrate that the developed algorithm reduces the users BIP by up to 16% and 26%, respectively, compared to centralized ESN and deep learning algorithms.
