A systematic study of the doublet bands observed in odd-odd mass $sim$ 100 is performed using the microscopic triaxial projected shell model approach. This mass region has depicted some novel features which are not observed in other mass regions, for instance, it has been observed that two chiral bands cross diabatically in $^{106}$Ag. It is demonstrated that this unique feature is due to crossing of the two 2-quasiparticle configurations having different intrinsic structures. Further, we provide a complete set of transition probabilities for all the six-isotopes studied in this work and it is shown that the predicted transitions are in good agreement with the available experimental data.

Chiral rotation observed in $^{128}$Cs is studied using the newly developed microscopic triaxial projected shell model (TPSM) approach. The observed energy levels and the electromagnetic transition probabilities of the nearly degenerate chiral dipole bands in this isotope are well reproduced by the present model. This demonstrates the broad applicability of the TPSM approach, based on a schematic interaction and angular-momentum projection technique, to explain a variety of low- and high-spin phenomena in triaxial rotating nuclei.
The binding energies of even-even and odd-odd N=Z nuclei are compared. After correcting for the symmetry energy we find that the lowest T=1 state in odd-odd N=Z nuclei is as bound as the ground state in the neighboring even-even nucleus, thus providi ng evidence for isovector np pairing. However, T=0 states in odd-odd N=Z nuclei are several MeV less bound than the even-even ground states. We associate this difference with a pair gap and conclude that there is no evidence for an isoscalar pairing condensate in N=Z nuclei.
The quartet condensation model (QCM) is extended for the treatment of isovector and isoscalar pairing in odd-odd N=Z nuclei. In the extended QCM approach the lowest states of isospin T=1 and T=0 in odd-odd nuclei are described variationally by trial functions composed by a proton-neutron pair appended to a condensate of 4-body operators. The latter are taken as a linear superposition of an isovector quartet, built by two isovector pairs coupled to the total isospin T=0, and two collective isoscalar pairs. In all pairs the nucleons are distributed in time-reversed single-particle states of axial symmetry. The accuracy of the trial functions is tested for realistic pairing Hamiltonians and odd-odd N=Z nuclei with the valence nucleons moving above the cores $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca and $^{100}$Sn. It is shown that the extended QCM approach is able to predict with high accuracy the energies of the lowest T=0 and T=1 states. The present calculations indicate that in these states the isovector and the isoscalar pairing correlations coexist together, with the former playing a dominant role.
After identifying the nuclei in the regions near A =80 and A = 160 for which beta-decay rates have the greatest effect on weak and main r-process abundance patterns, we apply the finite-amplitude method (FAM) with Skyrme energy-density functionals (E DFs) to calculate beta-decay half-lives of those nuclei in the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA). We use the equal filling approximation to extend our implementation of the charge-changing FAM, which incorporates pairing correlations and allows axially symmetric deformation, to odd-A and odd-odd nuclei. Within this framework we find differences of up to a factor of seven between our calculated beta-decay half-lives and those of previous efforts. Repeated calculations with nuclei near A = 160 and multiple EDFs show a spread of two to four in beta-decay half-lives, with differences in calculated Q values playing an important role. We investigate the implications of these results for r-process simulations.

[Background] Predictions of spectroscopic properties of low-lying states are critical for nuclear structure studies. Theoretical methods can be particularly involved for odd-mass nuclei because of the interplay between the unpaired nucleon and collec tive degrees of freedom. Only a few models have been developed for systems in which octupole collective degrees of freedom play a role. [Purpose] We aim to predict spectroscopic properties of odd-mass nuclei characterized by octupole shape deformation, employing a model that describes single-particle and collective degrees of freedom within the same microscopic framework. [Method] A microscopic core-quasiparticle coupling (CQC) model based on the covariant density functional theory is developed, which includes collective excitations of even-mass core nuclei and single-particle states of the odd nucleon, calculated using a quadrupole-octupole collective Hamiltonian combined with a constrained reflection-asymmetric relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model. [Results] Model predictions for low-energy excitation spectra and transition rates of odd-mass radium isotopes $^{223, 225, 227}$Ra are shown to be in good agreement with available data. [Conclusions] A microscopic CQC model based on covariant density functional theory has been developed for odd-mass nuclei characterized by both quadrupole and octupole shape deformations. Theoretical results reproduce data in odd-mass Ra isotopes and provide useful predictions for future studies of octupole correlations in nuclei and related phenomena.
