Several extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics contain additional scalars implying a more complex scalar potential compared to that of the Standard Model. In general these potentials allow for charge and/or color breaking minima besides the desired one with correctly broken SU(2)_L times U(1)_Y . Even if one assumes that a metastable local minimum is realized, one has to ensure that its lifetime exceeds that of our universe. We introduce a new program called Vevacious which takes a generic expression for a one-loop effective potential energy function and finds all the tree-level extrema, which are then used as the starting points for gradient-based minimization of the one-loop effective potential. The tunneling time from a given input vacuum to the deepest minimum, if different from the input vacuum, can be calculated. The parameter points are given as files in the SLHA format (though is not restricted to supersymmetric models), and new model files can be easily generated automatically by the Mathematica package SARAH. This code uses HOM4PS2 to find all the minima of the tree-level potential, PyMinuit to follow gradients to the minima of the one-loop potential, and CosmoTransitions to calculate tunneling times.

There are indications that some theories with spontaneous symmetry breaking also feature a light scalar in their spectrum, with a mass comparable to the one of the Goldstone modes. In this paper, we perform the one-loop renormalization of a theory of Goldstone modes invariant under a chiral $SU(n)times SU(n)$ symmetry group coupled to a generic scalar singlet. We employ the background field method, together with the heat kernel expansion, to get an expression for the effective action at one loop and single out the anomalous dimensions, which can be read off from the second Seeley-DeWitt coefficient. As a relevant application, we use our master formula to renormalize chiral-scale perturbation theory, an alternative to $SU(3)$ chiral perturbation theory where the $f_0(500)$ meson is interpreted as a dilaton. Based on our results, we briefly discuss strategies to test and discern both effective field theories using lattice simulations.
Recent development of path integral matching techniques based on the covariant derivative expansion has made manifest a universal structure of one-loop effective Lagrangians. The universal terms can be computed once and for all to serve as a referenc e for one-loop matching calculations and to ease their automation. Here we present the fermionic universal one-loop effective action (UOLEA), resulting from integrating out heavy fermions with scalar, pseudo-scalar, vector and axial-vector couplings. We also clarify the relation of the new terms computed here to terms previously computed in the literature and those that remain to complete the UOLEA. Our results can be readily used to efficiently obtain analytical expressions for effective operators arising from heavy fermion loops.
We present the version 2.0 of the program package GoSam for the automated calculation of one-loop amplitudes. GoSam is devised to compute one-loop QCD and/or electroweak corrections to multi-particle processes within and beyond the Standard Model. Th e new code contains improvements in the generation and in the reduction of the amplitudes, performs better in computing time and numerical accuracy, and has an extended range of applicability. The extended version of the Binoth-Les-Houches-Accord interface to Monte Carlo programs is also implemented. We give a detailed description of installation and usage of the code, and illustrate the new features in dedicated examples.

We briefly sketch the methods for a numerically stable evaluation of tensor one-loop integrals that have been used in the calculation of the complete electroweak one-loop corrections to $PepPemto4 $fermions. In particular, the improvement of the new methods over the conventional Passarino--Veltman reduction is illustrated for some 4-point integrals in the delicate limits of small Gram (and other kinematical) determinants.
The low energy effective potential for the model with a light scalar and a heavy scalar is derived. We perform the path integration for both heavy and light scalars and derive the low energy effective potential in terms of only the light scalar. The effective potential is independent of the renormalization scale approximately. By setting the renormalization scale equal to the mass of the heavy scalar, one finds the corrections with the logarithm of the ratio of the two scalar masses. The large logarithm is summed with the renormalization group (RG) and the RG improved effective potential is derived. The improved effective potential includes the one-loop correction of the heavy scalar and the leading logarithmic corrections due to the light scalar. We discuss the implication of the corrections to the parameters of the mass squared dimension as well as the cosmological constants.
