The ratios between different baryonic species masses are studied. The result is used to tentatively predict some missing baryonic masses, still not experimentally observed.

Baryons are complex systems of confined quarks and gluons and exhibit the characteristic spectra of excited states. The systematics of the baryon excitation spectrum is important to our understanding of the effective degrees of freedom underlying nuc leon matter. High-energy electrons and photons are a remarkably clean probe of hadronic matter, providing a microscope for examining the nucleon and the strong nuclear force. Current experimental efforts with the CLAS spectrometer at Jefferson Laboratory utilize highly-polarized frozen-spin targets in combination with polarized photon beams. The status of the recent double-polarization experiments and some preliminary results are discussed in this contribution.
We analyze lattice data for octet baryon masses from the QCDSF collaboration employing manifestly covariant Baryon Chiral Perturbation Theory. It is shown that certain combinations of low-energy constants can be fixed more accurately than before from this data. We also examine the impact of this analysis on the pion-nucleon sigma term, and on the convergence properties of baryon mass expansions in the SU(3) symmetry limit.

We measure relative abundances of $K_{S}^{0}$, $Lambda$ and $bar{Lambda}$ in near-side and away-side cones correlated with triggered high-$p_{T}$ particles in $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au collisions at $sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV. The centrality dependence o f identified particles in the triggered particle cones is also presented. Particle yields and ratios are extracted on the near-side and away-side of the trigger particle. The associate-particle ratios are studied as a function of the angle relative to the trigger particle azimuth $Deltaphi$. Such studies should help elucidate the origin of the modifications in the jet like correlations observed in Au+Au collisions relative to p+p collisions. And these studies also will help understand the variation of local parton densities at the away side. We discuss how these measurements might be related to several scenarios for interactions of fast partons with the medium created in Au+Au collision.
The two-pion production in nucleon-nucleon collisions has been studied by exclusive and kinematically complete experiments from threshold up to $T_p$ = 1.36 GeV at CELSIUS-WASA. At near-threshold energies the total and differential distributions for the $pi^+pi^-$ and $pi^0pi^0$ channels are dominated by Roper excitation and its decay into $Nsigma$ and $Deltapi$ channels. At beam energies $T_p >$ 1.1 GeV the $DeltaDelta$ excitation governs the two-pion production process. In the $pi^+pi^+$ channel evidence is found for the excitation of a higher-lying I=3/2 resonance, favorably the $Delta(1600)$. The isovector fusion processes leading to the deuteron and to quasi-stable $^2$He, respectively, %with the production of an isovector pion-pair exhibit no or only a modest ABC-effect, {it i.e.} low-mass enhancement in the $pipi$-invariant mass spectrum, and can be described by conventional $t$-channel $DeltaDelta$ excitation. On the other hand, the isoscalar fusion process to the deuteron %with the production of an isoscalar pion-pair exhibits a dramatic ABC-effect correlated with a narrow resonance-like energy dependence in the total cross section with a width of only 50 MeV and situated at a mass 90 MeV below the $DeltaDelta$ mass.
The successive stages of a high-energy collision are conjectured to end up with chemical and thermal freezeout of the produced particles. We utilize generic (non)extensive statistics which is believed to determine the degree of (non)extensivity throu gh two critical exponents due to possible phase-space modifications. This statistical approach likely manifests various types of correlations and fluctuations and also possible interactions among the final-state produced particles. We study the baryon-to-pion ratios at top RHIC and LHC energies including the so-called proton anomaly.
