We investigate the generation of large-scale magnetic fields due to the breaking of the conformal invariance in the electromagnetic field through the $CPT$-even dimension-six Chern-Simons-like effective interaction with a fermion current by taking account of the dynamical Kalb-Ramond and scalar fields in inflationary cosmology. It is explicitly demonstrated that the magnetic fields on 1Mpc scale with the field strength of $sim 10^{-9}$G at the present time can be induced.

We study the CPT-even dimension-six Chern-Simons-like term by including dynamical Kalb-Ramond and scalar fields to examine the cosmological birefringence. We show that the combined effect of neutrino current and Kalb-Ramond field could induce a sizab le rotation polarization angle in the cosmic microwave background radiation polarization.
We investigate gauge/gravity duals with flavour for which pure-gauge Kalb-Ramond B fields are turned on in the background, into which a D7 brane probe is embedded. First we consider the case of a magnetic field in two of the spatial boundary directio ns. We show that at finite temperature, i.e. in the AdS-Schwarzschild background, the B field has a stabilizing effect on the mesons and chiral symmetry breaking occurs for a sufficiently large value of the B field. Then we turn to the electric case of a B field in the temporal direction and one spatial boundary direction. In this case, there is a singular region in which it is necessary to turn on a gauge field on the brane in order to ensure reality of the brane action. We find that the brane embeddings are attracted towards this region. Far away from this region, in the weak field case at zero temperature, we investigate the meson spectrum and find a mass shift similar to the Stark effect.
We consider a model of inflation consisting a triplet of $U(1)$ vector fields with the parity violating interaction which is non-minimally coupled to inflaton. The vector field sector enjoys global $O(3)$ symmetry which admits isotropic configuration and provides not only vector modes but also scalar and tensor modes. We decompose the scalar perturbations into the adiabatic, entropy and isocurvature perturbations and compute all power spectra and cross correlations of the scalar and the tensor sectors. The tensor modes associated with the vector fields contribute to the power spectrum of gravitational waves while the parity violating term generates chirality in gravitational power spectra and bispectra. We study nonlinear scalar and tensor perturbations and compute all bispectra and three-point cross-correlations. In particular, it is shown that the non-Gaussianity of curvature perturbations and gravitational waves are enhanced by the vector field perturbations. We show that non-Gaussianities put strong constraints on the model parameters such as the parity violating coupling and the fractional energy of the vector fields.
We study the scalar-tensor-tensor non-Gaussian signal in an inflationary model comprising also an axion coupled with SU(2) gauge fields. In this set-up, metric fluctuations are sourced by the gauge fields already at the linear level providing an enha nced chiral gravitational waves spectrum. The same mechanism is at work in generating an amplitude for the three-point function that is parametrically larger than in standard single-field inflation.
We present the general form of the operators that lift the group action on the twisted sectors of a bosonic string on an orbifold ${cal M}/G$, in the presence of a Kalb-Ramond field strength $H$. These operators turn out to generate the quasi-quantum group $D_{omega}[G]$, introduced in the context of orbifold conformal field theory by R. Dijkgraaf, V. Pasquier and P. Roche. The 3-cocycle $omega$ entering in the definition of $D_{omega}[G]$ is related to $H$ by a series of cohomological equations in a tricomplex combining de Rham, Cech and group coboundaries. We construct magnetic amplitudes for the twisted sectors and show that $omega=1$ arises as a consistency condition for the orbifold theory. Finally, we recover discrete torsion as an ambiguity in the lift of the group action to twisted sectors, in accordance with previous results presented by E. Sharpe.
