We explore the four top signal ttbar ttbar at the 7 TeV Large Hadron Collider as a probe of physics beyond the standard model. Enhancement of the corresponding cross-section with respect to the Standard Model value can probe the electroweak symmetry breaking sector or test extra dimensional models with heavy Kaluza-Klein gluons and quarks. We perform a detailed analysis including background and detector simulation in the specific case of a universal extra-dimensional model with two extra dimensions compactified using the geometry of the real projective plane. For masses around 600 GeV, a discovery is possible for an effective cross section above 210 fb (36 fb) for 1/fb (10/fb) of integrated luminosity. This implies a branching ratio in tops of the (1,1) heavy photon above 13% (5%). Furthermore, the 4-top signal from the (2,0) and (0,2) tiers can be discovered with an integrated luminosity of 3.5/fb. The results of our simulation can be easily adapted to other models since the background processes are identical. Concerning the signal, typical production mechanisms for the ttbar ttbar signal are similar even if cross-section values may vary considerably depending on the model and the spectrum of the new particles.

We consider the four-site Higgsless model, which predicts the existence of four charged and two neutral extra gauge bosons, $W_{1,2}^pm$ and $Z_{1,2}$. In contrast to other Higgsless models, characterized by fermiophobic extra gauge bosons, here size able fermion-boson couplings are allowed by the electroweak precision data. We thus analyse the prospects of detecting the new predicted particles in the mostly favored Drell-Yan channel at the LHC.
We demonstrate that in the back-to-back kinematics the production of four jets in the collision of two partons is suppressed in the leading log approximation of pQCD, compared to the hard processes involving the collision of four partons. We derive t he basic equation for four-jet production in QCD in terms of the convolution of generalized two-parton distributions of colliding hadrons in the momentum space representation. Our derivation leads to geometrical approach in the impact parameter space close to that suggested within the parton model and used before to describe the four-jet production. We develop the independent parton approximation to the light-cone wave function of the proton. Comparison with the CDF and D0 data shows that the independent parton approximation to the light-cone wave function of the proton is insufficient to explain the data. We argue that the data indicate the presence of significant multiparton correlations in the light-cone wave functions of colliding protons.
We study the phenomenology of the neutral gauge sector of the four-site Higgsless model, based on the SU(2)_L x SU(2)_1 x SU(2)_2 x U(1)_Y gauge symmetry, at present colliders. The model predicts the existence of two neutral and four charged extra ga uge bosons, Z_{1,2} and W^pm_{1,2}. We expand and update a previous study, by concentrating on the neutral sector. We derive new limits on Z_{1,2}-boson masses and couplings from recent direct searches at the Tevatron. We moreover estimate the discovery potential at the Tevatron with a project luminosity L=10 fb^{-1}, and at the 7 TeV LHC with L=1 fb^{-1}. In contrast to other Higgsless theories characterized by almost fermiophobic extra gauge bosons, the four-site model allows sizeable Z_{1,2}-boson couplings to SM fermions. Owing to this feature, we find that in the next two years the extra Z_{1,2}-bosons could be discovered in the favoured Drell-Yan channel at the 7 TeV LHC for Z_{1,2} masses in the TeV region, depending on model parameters.

In this work we study line arrangements consisting in lines passing through three non aligned points. We call them triangular arrangements. We prove that any combinatorics of a triangular arrangement is always realized by a Roots-of-Unity-Arrangement , which is a particular class of triangular arrangements. Among these Roots-of Unity-Arrangements we characterize the free ones and show that Teraos conjecture holds for this family. Finally, we give two triangular arrangements having the same weak combinatorics, such that one is free but the other one is not.
We present an analytic study of conformal field theories on the real projective space $mathbb{RP}^d$, focusing on the two-point functions of scalar operators. Due to the partially broken conformal symmetry, these are non-trivial functions of a confor mal cross ratio and are constrained to obey a crossing equation. After reviewing basic facts about the structure of correlators on $mathbb{RP}^d$, we study a simple holographic setup which captures the essential features of boundary correlators on $mathbb{RP}^d$. The analysis is based on calculations of Witten diagrams on the quotient space $AdS_{d+1}/mathbb{Z}_2$, and leads to an analytic approach to two-point functions. In particular, we argue that the structure of the conformal block decomposition of the exchange Witten diagrams suggests a natural basis of analytic functionals, whose action on the conformal blocks turns the crossing equation into certain sum rules. We test this approach in the canonical example of $phi^4$ theory in dimension $d=4-epsilon$, extracting the CFT data to order $epsilon^2$. We also check our results by standard field theory methods, both in the large $N$ and $epsilon$ expansions. Finally, we briefly discuss the relation of our analysis to the problem of construction of local bulk operators in AdS/CFT.
