A beam size monitor so called Shintake monitor, which uses the inverse Compton scattering between the laser interference fringe and the electron beam was designed for and installed at ATF2. The commissioning at ATF2 was started in the end of 2008 and succeeded in the measurement of the fringe pattern from the scattered gamma-rays. The present status of the Shintake monitor is described here.

The beam test for the Shintake monitor succeeded in measuring signal modulation with the laser interference fringe pattern in November 2009. We have studied the error sources, and evaluated the systematic error to be less than 30% for 1 minute measur ements. This paper centers on the evaluation of the Shintake monitor performance through analyzing beam tests deta. Most systematic error sources are well understood, enabling accurate measurement of the beam size when it reaches 37 nm.
We developed an electron beam size monitor for extremely small beam sizes. It uses a laser interference fringe for a scattering target with the electron beam. Our target performance is < 2 nm systematic error for 37 nm beam size and < 10% statistical error in a measurement using 90 electron bunches for 25 - 6000 nm beam size. A precise laser interference fringe control system using an active feedback function is incorporated to the monitor to achieve the target performance. We describe an overall design, implementations, and performance estimations of the monitor.
NEXT is an experiment dedicated to neutrinoless double beta decay searches in xenon. The detector is a TPC, holding 100 kg of high-pressure xenon enriched in the $^{136}$Xe isotope. It is under construction in the Laboratorio Subterraneo de Canfranc in Spain, and it will begin operations in 2015. The NEXT detector concept provides an energy resolution better than 1% FWHM and a topological signal that can be used to reduce the background. Furthermore, the NEXT technology can be extrapolated to a 1-ton scale experiment.

Nearly all astrophysical and cosmological data point convincingly to a large component of cold dark matter (CDM) in the Universe. The axion particle, first theorized as a solution to the strong charge-parity problem of quantum chromodynamics, has bee n established as a prominent CDM candidate. Cosmic observation and particle physics experiments have bracketed the unknown mass of CDM axions between approximately {mu}eV and meV. The Axion Dark Matter eXperim8ent (ADMX) is a direct-detection CDM axion search which has set limits at the KSVZ coupling of the axion to two photons for axion masses between 1.9 and 3.7 {mu}eV. The current upgrades will allow ADMX to detect axions with even the most pessimistic couplings in this mass range. In order to expand the mass reach of the detector, extensive research and development of microwave cavity technologies, tunable microwave SQUID amplifiers, and piezoelectric drives is being conducted. ADMX is projected to explore more than one decade of the allowable mass range with DFSZ coupling sensitivity in the near future. Status of the experiment, current research and development, and projected results are discussed. The KATRIN experiment, presently under construction in Karlsruhe, Germany, will improve on previous laboratory limits on the neutrino mass by a factor of ten. KATRIN will use a high-activity, gaseous T2 source and a very high-resolution spectrometer to measure the shape of the high-energy tail of the tritium-decay beta spectrum. The shape measurement will also be sensitive to new physics, including sterile neutrinos and Lorentz violation. This report summarizes recent progress in the experiment.
