We have measured de Haas-van Alphen oscillations of Cr$_{1-x}$V$_x$, $0 le x le 0.05$, at high fields for samples on both sides of the quantum critical point at $x_c=0.035$. For all samples we observe only those oscillations associated with a single small hole band with magnetic breakdown orbits of the reconstructed Fermi surface evident for $x<x_c$. The absence of oscillations from Fermi surface sheets most responsible for the spin density wave (SDW) in Cr for $x>x_c$ is further evidence for strong fluctuation scattering of these charge carriers well into the paramagnetic regime. We find no significant mass enhancement of the carriers in the single observed band at any $x$. An anomalous field dependence of the dHvA signal for our $x=0.035$ crystal at particular orientations of the magnetic field is identified as due to magnetic breakdown that we speculate results from a field induced SDW transition at high fields.

We report a chemical substitution-induced ferromagnetic quantum critical point in polycrystalline Ni$_{1-x}$Rh$_x$ alloys. Through magnetization and muon spin relaxation measurements, we show that the ferromagnetic ordering temperature is suppressed continuously to zero at $x_{crit} = 0.375$ while the magnetic volume fraction remains 100% up to $x_{crit}$, pointing to a second order transition. Non-Fermi liquid behavior is observed close to $x_{crit}$, where the electronic specific heat $C_{el}/T$ diverges logarithmically, while immediately above $x_{crit}$ the volume thermal expansion coefficient $alpha_{V}/T$ and the Gruneisen ratio $Gamma = alpha_{V}/C_{el}$ both diverge logarithmically in the low temperature limit, further indication of a ferromagnetic quantum critical point in Ni$_{1-x}$Rh$_x$.

We report a comprehensive de Haas--van Alphen (dHvA) study of the heavy-fermion material CeRhIn$_5$ in magnetic fields up to 70~T. Several dHvA frequencies gradually emerge at high fields as a result of magnetic breakdown. Among them is the thermodyn amically important $beta_1$ branch, which has not been observed so far. Comparison of our angule-dependent dHvA spectra with those of the non-$4f$ compound LaRhIn$_5$ and with band-structure calculations evidences that the Ce $4f$ electrons in CeRhIn$_5$ remain localized over the whole field range. This rules out any significant Fermi-surface reconstruction, either at the suggested nematic phase transition at $B^{*}approx$ 30~T or at the putative quantum critical point at $B_c simeq$ 50~T. Our results rather demonstrate the robustness of the Fermi surface and the localized nature of the 4$f$ electrons inside and outside of the antiferromagnetic phase.
V2O3 famously features all four combinations of paramagnetic vs antiferromagnetic, and metallic vs insulating states of matter in response to %-level doping, pressure in the GPa range, and temperature below 300 K. Using time-of-flight neutron spectro scopy combined with density functional theory calculations of magnetic interactions, we have mapped and analyzed the inelastic magnetic neutron scattering cross section over a wide range of energy and momentum transfer in the chromium stabilized antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic insulating phases (AFI & PI). Our results reveal an important magnetic frustration and degeneracy of the PI phase which is relieved by the rhombohedral to monoclinic transition at $T_N=185$ K due to a significant magneto-elastic coupling. This leads to the recognition that magnetic frustration is an inherent property of the paramagnetic phase in $rm (V_{1-x}Cr_x)_2O_3$ and plays a key role in suppressing the magnetic long range ordering temperature and exposing a large phase space for the paramagnetic Mott metal-insulator transition to occur.
We present a comprehensive investigation of the evolution of helimagnetic correlations in Mn$_{1-x}$Fe$_x$Si with increasing doping. By combining polarised neutron scattering and high resolution Neutron Spin Echo spectroscopy we investigate three sam ples with $x$=0.09, 0.11 and 0.14, i.e. with compositions on both sides of the concentration $x^* sim 0.11$ where the helimagnetic Bragg peaks disappear and between $x^*$ and the quantum critical concentration $x_C sim 0.17$, where $T_C$ vanishes. We find that the abrupt disappearance of the long range helical periodicity at $x^*$, does not affect the precursor fluctuating correlations. These build up with decreasing temperature in a similar way as for the parent compound MnSi. Also the dynamics bears strong similarities to MnSi. The analysis of our results indicates that frustration, possibly due to achiral RKKY interactions, increases with increasing Fe doping. We argue that this effect explains both the expansion of the precursor phase with increasing $x$ and the abrupt disappearance of long range helimagnetic periodicity at $x^*$.
Polycrystalline samples of Ce(Cu$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$Ge$_2$ were investigated by means of electrical resistivity $rho$($T$), magnetic susceptibility $chi$($T$), specific heat $C$$_p$($T$) and thermo electric power $S$($T$) measurements. The long-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) order, which set in at $T$$_N$ = 4.1 K in CeCu$_2$Ge$_2$, is suppressed by non-iso-electronic cobalt (Co) doping at a critical value of the concentration $x$$_c$ = 0.6, accompanied by non-Fermi liquid (NFL) behavior inferred from the power law dependence of heat capacity and susceptibility i.e. $C$($T$)/$T$ and $chi$($T$) $propto$ $T$$^{-1+lambda}$ down to 0.4 K, along with a clear deviation from $T$$^2$ behavior of the electrical resistivity. However, we have not seen any superconducting phase in the quantum critical regime down to 0.4 K.
