It was observed recently by Randall and Wise that, any particle in the Standard Model cannot decay to $e^+e^-$ and $gamma gamma$ final states with comparably measurable branching ratios. This is also true for most extensions of the Standard Model, with the Randall-Sundrum model as an outstanding exception. In this paper, we show that two-Higgs-Doublet-Models (2HDM) yield another possible exception if certain parameters are properly chosen. In addition, we have checked that this model survives the tests of low energy processes, including the anomalous magnetic moment and electric dipole moment of leptons, lepton-flavor-violating decays $mu^- to e^- gamma$ and $e^- e^+ e^-$.

Very recently we proposed a predictive 2 Higgs Doublet Model with $S_{3}$ flavour symmetry that successfully accounts for fermion masses and mixings. In this letter, motivated by the $750$ GeV Higgs diphoton resonance recently reported by the ATLAS a nd CMS collaborations, we modify this model by adding exotic top partners with electric charge $frac{5}{3}$ and a electrically charged scalar singlet. These exotic top partners decay into a charged scalar singlet and the SM up type quarks, whereas the charged scalar singlet will mainly decay into SM up and down type quarks. This simple modification enables our model to successfully account for the Higgs diphoton excess at $750,text{GeV}$ provided that the exotic quark masses are in the range $[1,2]$ TeV, for $O(1)$ exotic quark Yukawa couplings.

This note describes an assessment of the statistical significance of the recently released ATLAS data regarding the Higgs search in the decay channels especially suited for the low mass region, in particular the diphoton and four lepton decay channel s. Besides providing the significance evaluation of the considered channels, alone or combined, in the low mass range from 110 to 146 GeV, some details of the profile likelihood procedure employed for the calculations are described, too. Special emphasis is given to the look elsewhere effect, which arises when the search of a new signal is carried out over a broad mass range, therefore specifying separately local and global significances. When combined together, the global p-value of the localized excesses detected in the two channels is found equal to either 0.033 or 0.013, corresponding, respectively, to a significance of 1.8 sigma and 2.2 sigma depending upon the assumption of mutual independence or dependence of the amplitudes of the expected signal in each channel. Among the other obtained results, the local and global significances of the two channels individually taken are computed in good agreement with those reported by the Collaboration, while only a minor discrepancy is found for their combined local significance. Finally, some considerations are illustrated related to the low statistics four lepton decay channel, showing that a search strategy different from the profile likelihood method, e.g. scan statistics, can result in a substantially different significance, enhanced to a 3.3 sigma global effect.
Recently, significant enhancements of J/$psi$ and $e^{+} e^{-}$ pair production at very low transverse momenta were observed by the STAR and ALICE collaboration in peripheral hadronic A+A collisions. The anomaly excesses point to evidence of coherent photon-nucleus and photon-photon interactions in violent hadronic heavy-ion collisions, which were conventionally studied only in ultra-peripheral collisions. The isobaric collisions performed at RHIC provides a unique opportunity to test the existence of coherent photon products in hadronic heavy-ion collisions. The idea is that the possible production of coherent photon products is significantly different in different collision systems due to the variations in their charge and nuclear density distributions. In this letter, we focus on the peripheral collisions and provide theoretical predictions for coherent production of J/$psi$ and dielectron in isobaric collisions. We show that the expected yields differ significantly to perform the experimental test.
Current Higgs data at the Large Hadron Collider is compatible with a SM signal at the 2$sigma$ level, but the central value of the signal strength in the diphoton channel is enhanced with respect to the SM expectation. If the enhancement resides in t he diphoton partial decay width, the data could be accommodated in the Minimally Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with highly mixed light staus. We revisit the issue of vacuum instability induced by large mixing in the stau sector, including effects of a radiatively-corrected tau Yukawa coupling. Further, we emphasize the importance of taking into account the $tanbeta$ dependence in the stability bound. While the metastability of the Universe constrains the possible enhancement in the Higgs to diphoton decay width in the light stau scenario, an increase of the order of 50% can be achieved in the region of large $tanbeta$. Larger enhancements may be obtained, but would require values of $tanbeta$ associated with non-perturbative values of the tau Yukawa coupling at scales below the GUT scale, thereby implying the presence of new physics beyond the MSSM.
We first build a minimal model of vector-like quarks where the dominant Higgs boson production process at LHC -- the gluon fusion -- can be significantly suppressed, being motivated by the recent stringent constraints from the search for direct Higgs production over a wide Higgs mass range. Within this model, compatible with the present experimental constraints on direct Higgs searches, we demonstrate that the Higgs ($h$) production via a heavy vector-like top-partner ($t_2$) decay, $pp to t_2 bar t_2$, $t_2to t h$, allows to discover a Higgs boson at the LHC and measure its mass, through the decay channels $hto gammagamma$ or $hto ZZ$. We also comment on the recent hint in LHC data from a possible $sim 125$ GeV Higgs scalar, in the presence of heavy vector-like top quarks.
