In 1980s, Thurston established a combinatorial characterization for post-critically finite rational maps. This criterion was then extended by Cui, Jiang, and Sullivan to sub-hyperbolic rational maps. The goal of this paper is to present a new but simpler proof of this result by adapting the argument in the proof of Thurstons Theorem.

We prove that a long iteration of rational maps is expansive near boundaries of bounded type Siegel disks. This leads us to extend Petersens local connectivity result on the Julia sets of quadratic Siegel polynomials to a general case.

We give necessary and sufficient conditions for a function in a naturally appearing functional space to be a fixed point of the Ruelle-Thurston operator associated to a rational function, see Lemma 2.1. The proof uses essentially a recent [13]. As an immediate consequence, we revisit Theorem 1 and Lemma 5.2 of [11], see Theorem 1 and Lemma 2.2 below.
We study the dynamics of meromorphic maps for a compact Kaehler manifold X. More precisely, we give a simple criterion that allows us to produce a measure of maximal entropy. We can apply this result to bound the Lyapunov exponents. Then, we study the particular case of a family of generic birational maps of P^k for which we construct the Green currents and the equilibrium measure. We use for that the theory of super-potentials. We show that the measure is mixing and gives no mass to pluripolar sets. Using the criterion we get that the measure is of maximal entropy. It implies finally that the measure is hyperbolic.

We show that the topological entropy is monotonic for unimodal interval maps which are obtained from the restriction of quadratic rational maps with real coefficients. This is done by ruling out the existence of certain post-critical curves in the mo duli space of aforementioned maps, and confirms a conjecture made in [Fil19] based on experimental evidence.
For a rational function f we consider the norm of the derivative with respect to the spherical metric and denote by K(f) the supremum of this norm. We give estimates of this quantity K(f) both for an individual function and for sequences of iterates.
