An MC@NLO for heavy quarks in photoproduction is presented. This is the first lepton-hadron process to be included into MC@NLO. To construct an MC@NLO process dependent so called MC-subtraction terms need to be calculated. The resulting calculation is compared to a fixed order NLO calculation and the HERWIG event generator and is shown to perform well.

In the paper, we derive the next-to-leading order (NLO) fragmentation function for a heavy quark, either charm or bottom, into a heavy quarkonium $J/Psi$ or $Upsilon$. The ultra-violet divergences in the real corrections are removed through the opera tor renormalization, which is performed under the modified minimal subtraction scheme. We then obtain the NLO fragmentation function at an initial factorization scale, e.g. $mu_{F}=3 m_c$ for $cto J/Psi$ and $mu_{F}=3m_b$ for $bto Upsilon$, which can be evolved to any scale via the use of Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi equation. As an initial application of those fragmentation functions, we study the $J/Psi$ ($Upsilon$) production at a high luminosity $e^+e^-$ collider which runs at the energy around the $Z$ pole and could be a suitable platform for testing the fragmentation function.

In this work, we will present the first complete calculation of the one-loop longitudinal photon-to-quark-antiquark light cone wave function, with massive quarks. The quark masses are renormalized in the pole mass scheme. The result is used to calcul ate the next-to-leading order correction to the high energy Deep Inelastic Scattering longitudinal structure function on a dense target in the dipole factorization framework. For massless quarks the next-to-leading order correction was already known to be sizeable, and our result makes it possible to evaluate it also for massive quarks.
We discuss the calculation of charged Higgs boson production in association with top quark in the MC@NLO framework for combining NLO matrix elements with a parton shower. The process is defined in a model independent manner for wide applicability, an d can be used if the charged Higgs boson mass is either greater or less than the mass of the top quark. For the latter mass region, care is needed in defining the charged Higgs production mode due to interference with top pair production. We give a suitable definition applicable in an NLO (plus parton shower) context, and present example results for the LHC.
We investigate the reaction gamma+p -> V+p, with V denoting a Phi or a J/Psi meson, within the scope of perturbative QCD, treating the proton as a quark-diquark system. Our predictions extrapolate the existing forward differential cross-section data into the few-GeV momentum-transfer region. In case of the J/Psi reasonable results are only obtained by properly taking into account its mass in the perturbative calculation of the hard-scattering amplitude.
The 2011 Les Houches workshop was the first to confront LHC data. In the two years since the previous workshop there have been significant advances in both soft and hard QCD, particularly in the areas of multi-leg NLO calculations, the inclusion of t hose NLO calculations into parton shower Monte Carlos, and the tuning of the non-perturbative parameters of those Monte Carlos. These proceedings describe the theoretical advances that have taken place, the impact of the early LHC data, and the areas for future development.
