We present the abundance measurements of several elements (Fe, Ca, Na, Ni, Ti, Al, Cr, Si) for 20 solar--type stars belonging to four Galactic open clusters: NGC 3680, IC 4651, Praesepe, and M 67. Oxygen abundances were in addition measured for most of the stars in each cluster apart from IC 4651. For NGC 3680 accurate abundance determinations using high--resolution spectra covering a large spectral domain are computed for the first time. We used UVES high--resolution, high signal to noise ratio spectra and performed a differential analysis with respect to the sun, by measuring equivalent widths and assuming LTE. The most surprising result is a significant supersolar metallicity for Praesepe ([Fe/H]=0.27+-0.10). As for the other clusters, we confirm a supersolar metallicity for IC 4651 ([Fe/H]=0.12+-0.05), a solar metallicity for M 67 ([Fe/H]=0.03+-0.04) and a slight subsolar metallicity for NGC 3680 ([Fe/H]=-0.04+-0.03). We find that the abundance ratios of almost all elements are solar, with the notable exception of oxygen in NGC 3680 and Praesepe, supersolar in the former cluster ([O/Fe]=0.2+-0.05) and as low as [O/Fe]=-0.4+-0.1 in the latter. Observations of several objects per cluster is required to obtain robust results, especially for those elements with a limited number of suitable lines.

We present a CCD photometric survey for the search of variable stars in four open clusters namely Berkeley 69, King 5, King 7, and Berkeley 20. The time series observations were carried out for 1 and/or 2 nights for each of the clusters in the year 1 998, which have led to identify nineteen variable stars in these clusters. Out of these 19 variable stars, five stars show delta Scuti like variability and two stars show W UMa type variability. In other stars, we could not find the periods and hence the type of variability due to the lack of sufficient data. The periods of delta Scuti type stars are found to be in the range of 0.13 to 0.21 days, whereas the two stars in the cluster Berkeley 20, which showed W UMa type variability have orbital periods of 0.396 and 0.418 days, respectively. Using the Gaia data, the basic parameters of the clusters Berkeley 69, King 7 and King 5 are also revised. The age and reddening are estimated to be 0.79 pm 0.09 Gyr and 0.68 pm 0.03 mag for Berkeley 69, 0.79 pm 0.09 Gyr and 1.22 pm 0.03mag for the cluster King 7 and 1.59 pm 0.19 Gyr and 0.63 pm 0.02 mag for the cluster King 5, respectively. Signature of mass segregation is found in the clusters King 7 and King 5.
A Rb deficiency by a factor two with respect to the Sun has been found in M dwarfs of solar metallicity. This deficiency is difficult to understand from both the observational and nucleosynthesis point of views. To test the reliability of this Rb def iciency, we study the Rb and Zr abundances in a sample of KM-type giant stars in a similar metallicity range extracted from the AMBRE Project. We derive Rb and Zr abundances in 54 giant stars with metallicity close to solar by spectral synthesis in LTE and NLTE. The impact of the Zeeman broadening in the RbI line is also studied. The LTE analysis results in a Rb deficiency in giant stars smaller than that obtained in M dwarfs, but the NLTE [Rb/Fe] ratios are very close to solar in the full metallicity range. This contrasts with the figure found in M dwarfs. We investigate the effect of gravitational settling and magnetic activity as possible causes of the Rb deficiency found in M dwarfs. While, the former phenomenon has a negligible impact on the surface Rb abundance, the existence of an average magnetic field with intensity typical of that observed in M dwarfs may result in systematic Rb abundance underestimations if the Zeeman broadening is not considered in the spectral synthesis. The new [Rb,Zr/Fe] vs. [Fe/H] relationships can be explained when the Rb production by rotating massive stars and low-and-intermediate mass stars are considered, without the need of any deviation from the standard s-process nucleosynthesis in AGB stars as previously suggested.
Open Clusters have long been used to study the chemo-dynamical evolution of the Galactic disk. This requires an homogeneously analysed sample covering a wide range of ages and distances. In this aper we present the OCCASO second data release. This co mprises a sample of high-resolution ($R>65,000$) and high signal-to-noise spectra of 115 Red Clump stars in 18 Open Clusters. We derive atmospheric parameters ($T_{mathrm{eff}}$, $log g$, $xi$), and [Fe/H] abundances using two analysis techniques: equivalent widths and spectral synthesis. A detailed comparison and a critical review of the results of the two methods are made. Both methods are carefully tested between them, with the emph{Gaia} FGK Benchmark stars, and with an extensive sample of literature values. We perform a membership study using radial velocities and the resulting abundances. Finally, we compare our results with a chemo-dynamical model of the Milky Way thin disk concluding that the oldest Open Clusters are consistent with the models only when dynamical effects are taken into account.
The spatial distribution of elemental abundances in the disc of our Galaxy gives insights both on its assembly process and subsequent evolution, and on the stellar nucleogenesis of the different elements. Gradients can be traced using several types o f objects as, for instance, (young and old) stars, open clusters, HII regions, planetary nebulae. We aim at tracing the radial distributions of abundances of elements produced through different nucleosynthetic channels -the alpha-elements O, Mg, Si, Ca and Ti, and the iron-peak elements Fe, Cr, Ni and Sc - by using the Gaia-ESO idr4 results of open clusters and young field stars. From the UVES spectra of member stars, we determine the average composition of clusters with ages >0.1 Gyr. We derive statistical ages and distances of field stars. We trace the abundance gradients using the cluster and field populations and we compare them with a chemo-dynamical Galactic evolutionary model. Results. The adopted chemo-dynamical model, with the new generation of metallicity-dependent stellar yields for massive stars, is able to reproduce the observed spatial distributions of abundance ratios, in particular the abundance ratios of [O/Fe] and [Mg/Fe] in the inner disc (5 kpc<RGC <7 kpc), with their differences, that were usually poorly explained by chemical evolution models. Often, oxygen and magnesium are considered as equivalent in tracing alpha-element abundances and in deducing, e.g., the formation time-scales of different Galactic stellar populations. In addition, often [alpha/Fe] is computed combining several alpha-elements. Our results indicate, as expected, a complex and diverse nucleosynthesis of the various alpha-elements, in particular in the high metallicity regimes, pointing towards a different origin of these elements and highlighting the risk of considering them as a single class with common features.
We present a detailed near-infrared chemical abundance analysis of 10 red giant members of the Galactic open cluster NGC 752. High-resolution (R$simeq$45000) near-infrared spectral data were gathered with the Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph ( IGRINS), providing simultaneous coverage of the complete H and K bands. We derived the abundances of H-burning (C, N, O), $alpha$ (Mg, Si, S, Ca), light odd-Z (Na, Al, P, K), Fe-group (Sc, Ti, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni) and neutron-capture (Ce, Nd, Yb) elements. We report the abundances of S, P, K, Ce, and Yb in NGC 752 for the first time. Our analysis yields solar metallicity and solar abundance ratios for almost all of the elements heavier than the CNO group in NGC 752. O and N abundances were measured from a number of OH and CN features in the $H$ band, and C abundances were determined mainly from CO molecular lines in the K band. High excitation ion{C}{i} lines present in both near-infrared and optical spectra were also included in the C abundance determinations. Carbon isotopic ratios were derived from the R-branch band heads of first overtone (2-0) and (3$-$1) $^{12}$CO and (2-0) $^{13}$CO lines near 23440 AA and (3-1) $^{13}$CO lines at about 23730 AA. The CNO abundances and $^{12}$C/$^{13}$C ratios are all consistent with our giants having completed first dredge-up envelope mixing of CN-cyle products. We independently assessed NGC 752 stellar membership from Gaia astrometry, leading to a new color-magnitude diagram for this cluster. Applications of Victoria isochrones and MESA models to these data yield an updated NGC 752 cluster age (1.52 Gyr) and evolutionary stage indications for the program stars. The photometric evidence and spectroscopic light element abundances all suggest that the most, perhaps all of the program stars are members of the helium-burning red clump in this cluster.
