The results of dc and ac magnetization, electrical resistance and heat capacity studies in an admixed rare earth alloy Nd0.75Gd0.25Rh3B2, which is close to the zero magnetization limit, are reported. Novel observations include the two antiferromagnetic like transitions, concomitant repeated/multiple magnetic compensation behaviour and a characteristic oscillatory magnetic response, with temperature dependence of magnetization at low fields crossing the M = 0 axis thrice. The effective coercive field relating to the residual remanence also has an oscillatory response, with two minima located close to two zero-crossover temperatures. The unusual behavior in Nd0.75Gd0.25Rh3B2 is conjectured to arise from its anisotropic hexagonal structure, with planar anisotropy, resulting in a quasi one dimensional electronic structure and the accentuated role of conduction electron polarization near the zero magnetization limit.
We report on the magnetic structure and ordering of hexagonal LuFeO3 films grown by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) on YSZ (111) and Al2O3 (0001) substrates. Using a set of complementary probes including neutron diffraction, we find that the system magn
Antiferromagnetic hexagonal MnTe is a promising material for spintronic devices relying on the control of antiferromagnetic domain orientations. Here we report on neutron diffraction, magnetotransport, and magnetometry experiments on semiconducting e
The emergence of ferromagnetism in two-dimensional van der Waals materials has aroused broad interest. However, the ferromagnetic instability has been a problem remained. In this work, by using the first-principles calculations, we identified the cri
Detailed magnetization measurements, M(T,H,theta), were performed on single crystals of TbPtIn and TmAgGe (both members of the hexagonal Fe_2P/ZrNiAl structure type), for the magnetic field H applied perpendicular to the crystallographic c axis. Thes
We study the low-temperature heat transport, as well as the magnetization and the specific heat, of TmMnO_3 single crystals to probe the transitions of magnetic structure induced by magnetic field. It is found that the low-T thermal conductivity (kap
