We study the role of magnetic interaction in the photoproduction of the kaon and hyperon. We find that the inclusion of a higher order diagram induced by the Wess-Zumio-Witten term has a significant contribution to the magnetic amplitude, which is compatible to the observed photon asymmetry in the forward angle region. This enables us to use the K^* coupling constants which have been determined in a microscopic way rather than the phenomenological ones which differ largely from the microscopic ones.

In this work we study the low energy kaon-hyperon interaction considering effective chiral Lagrangians that include kaons, $sigma$ mesons, hyperons and the corresponding resonances. We calculate the scattering amplitudes, and then the total cross sec tions, angular distributions, polarizations and the $S$ and $P$ phase shifts.

Multiferroics, where two or more ferroic order parameters coexist, is one of the hottest fields in condensed matter physics and materials science[1-9]. However, the coexistence of magnetism and conventional ferroelectricity is physically unfavoured[1 0]. Recently several remedies have been proposed, e.g., improper ferroelectricity induced by specific magnetic[6] or charge orders[2]. Guiding by these theories, currently most research is focused on frustrated magnets, which usually have complicated magnetic structure and low magnetic ordering temperature, consequently far from the practical application. Simple collinear magnets, which can have high magnetic transition temperature, have never been considered seriously as the candidates for multiferroics. Here, we argue that actually simple interatomic magnetic exchange interaction already contains a driving force for ferroelectricity, thus providing a new microscopic mechanism for the coexistence and strong coupling between ferroelectricity and magnetism. We demonstrate this mechanism by showing that even the simplest antiferromagnetic (AFM) insulator MnO, can display a magnetically induced ferroelectricity under a biaxial strain.
We study strong and radiative decays of excited singly heavy baryons (SHBs) using an effective chiral Lagrangian based on the diquark picture proposed in Ref. [1]. The effective Lagrangian contains a $U_A (1)$ anomaly term, which induces an inverse m ass ordering between strange and non-strange SHBs with spin-parity $1/2^-$. We find that the effect of the $U_A (1)$ anomaly combined with flavor-symmetry breaking modifies the Goldberger-Treiman relation for the mass difference between the ground state $Lambda_Q (1/2^+)$ and its chiral partner $Lambda_Q (1/2^-)$, and $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) Lambda_Q (1/2^+) eta$ coupling, which results in suppression of the decay width of $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) to Lambda_Q (1/2^+) eta$. We also investigate the other various decays such as $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) to Sigma_Q (1/2^+, , 3/2^+) pi pi$, $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) to Sigma_Q (1/2^+) pi$, $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) to Sigma_Q (1/2^+, , 3/2^+) gamma$, and $Lambda_Q (1/2^-) to Lambda_Q (1/2^+) pi^0$ for wide range of mass of $Lambda_Q (1/2^-)$.
Effective nuclear densities probed by kaon- and anti-kaon-nucleus systems are studied theoretically both for bound and low energy scattering states. As for the anti-kaon bound states, we investigate kaonic atoms. We find that the effective density de pends on the atomic states significantly and we have the possibility to obtain the anti-kaon properties at various nuclear densities by observing the several kaonic atom states. We also find the energy dependence of the probed density by kaon and anti-kaon scattering states. We find that the study of the effective nuclear density will help to find the proper systems to investigate the meson properties at various nuclear densities.
