We report the results of a $^{63,65}$Cu NMR/NQR study probing the intermetallic compound PrCu$_2$. The previously claimed onset of magnetic order at 65 K, indicated in a $mu$SR study, is not confirmed. Based on our data we discuss different possible reasons for this apparent discrepancy, including a non negligible influence of the implanted muons on their environment. Competing dipolar and quadrupolar interactions lead to unusual features of the magnetic-ion/conduction-electron system, different from those of common intermetallics exhibiting structural or magnetic instabilities.

We performed $^{59}$Co nuclear magnetic and quadrupole resonance (NMR and NQR) measurements under pressure on a single-crystalline CeCoSi, which undergoes an unresolved phase transition at $T_0$. The NQR spectra clearly showed that the phase transiti on at $T_0$ is nonmagnetic, but any symmetry lowering at the Co site was not seen irrespective of the feature of second-order phase transition. By contrast, the NMR spectra were split by the induced magnetic field perpendicular to the external magnetic field. These results show that the phase below $T_0$ is not a simple paramagnetic state but is most likely electric multipolar ordered state of Ce $4f$ electrons. The development of the Kondo effect by applying pressure is thought to be crucial to stabilize this state and to show novel features beyond commonality of tetragonal Ce-based systems.
The CoO$_{2}$ layers in sodium-cobaltates Na$_{x}$CoO$_{2}$ may be viewed as a spin $S=1/2$ triangular-lattice doped with charge carriers. The underlying physics of the cobaltates is very similar to that of the high $T_{c}$ cuprates. We will present unequivocal $^{59}$Co NMR evidence that below $T_{CO}sim51 K$, the insulating ground state of the itinerant antiferromagnet Na$_{0.5}$CoO$_{2}$ ($T_{N}sim 86 K$) is induced by charge ordering.

We demonstrate that the spin dynamics in underdoped Y(1-z)Ca(z)Ba(2)Cu(3)O(y) for y=~6.0 exhibit qualitatively the same behavior to underdoped La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO(4) for an equal amount of hole concentration p=z/2=x<0.11. However,a spin-gap appears as mo re holes are doped into the CuO(2) plane by increasing the oxygen concentration to y=~6.5 for a fixed value of Ca concentration z. Our results also suggest that Ca doping causes disorder effects that enhance the low frequency spin fluctuations.

We report $^{125}$Te NMR measurements of the topological quantum material ZrTe$_5$. Spin-lattice relaxation results, well-explained by a theoretical model of Dirac electron systems, reveal that the topological characteristic of ZrTe$_5$ is $T$-depend ent, changing from weak topological insulator to strong topological insulator as temperature increases. Electronic structure calculations confirm this ordering, the reverse of what has been proposed. NMR results demonstrate a gapless Dirac semimetal state occurring at a Lifshitz transition temperature, $T_c=85$ K in our crystals. We demonstrate that the changes in NMR shift at $T_c$ also provide direct evidence of band inversion when the topological phase transition occurs.

We report magnetization, specific heat, and NMR investigations on YFe2Al10 over a wide range in temperature and magnetic field and zero field (NQR) measurements. Magnetic susceptibility, specific heat and spin-lattice relaxation rate divided by T (1/ T1T) follow a weak power law (T^-0.4) temperature dependence, which is a signature of critical fluctuations of Fe moments. The value of the Sommerfeld-Wilson ratio and linear relation between 1/T1T and chi(T) suggest the existence of ferromagnetic correlations in this system. No magnetic ordering down to 50 mK in Cp(T) and the unusual temperature and field scaling of the bulk and NMR data are associated with a magnetic instability which drives the system to quantum criticality. The magnetic properties of the system are tuned by field wherein ferromagnetic fluctuations are suppressed and a crossover from quantum critical to FL behavior is observed with increasing magnetic field.
