The zero temperature phase diagram of the checkerboard Hubbard model is obtained in the solvable limit in which it consists of weakly coupled square plaquettes. As a function of the on-site Coulomb repulsion U and the density of holes per site, x, we demonstrate the existence of at least 16 distinct phases. For instance, at zero doping, the ground state is a novel d-wave Mott insulator (d-Mott), which is not adiabatically continuable to a band insulator; by doping the d-Mott state with holes, depending on the magnitude of U, it gives way to a d-wave superconducting state, a two-flavor spin-1/2 Fermi liquid (FL), or a spin-3/2 FL.
We investigate the emergence of a myriad of phases in the strong coupling regime of the dipolar Hubbard model in two dimensions. By using a combination of numerically unbiased methods in finite systems with analytical perturbative arguments, we show
We study ordered phases with broken translational symmetry in the half-filled three-orbital Hubbard model with antiferromagnetic Hund coupling by means of dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) and continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The sta
We investigate melting of stripe phases in the overdoped regime x>0.3 of the two-dimensional t-t-U Hubbard model, using a spin rotation invariant form of the slave boson representation. We show that the spin and charge order disappear simultaneously,
We investigate the competition between charge-density-wave (CDW) states and a Coulomb interaction-driven topological Mott insulator (TMI) in the honeycomb extended Hubbard model. For the spinful model with on-site ($U$) and next-nearest-neighbor ($V_
Using a dynamical cluster quantum Monte Carlo approximation we investigate the d-wave superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ in the doped 2D repulsive Hubbard model with a weak inhomogeneity. The inhomogeneity is introduced in the hoppings $tp$
