We report the first realization of a quantum degenerate mixture of bosonic $^{87}$Rb and fermionic $^{171}$Yb atoms in a hybrid optical dipole trap with a tunable, species-dependent trapping potential. $^{87}$Rb is shown to be a viable refrigerant fo r the non-interacting $^{171}$Yb atoms, cooling up to $2.4 times 10^5$ $^{171}$Yb atoms to a temperature of $T/T_F = 0.16(2) $ while simultaneously forming a $^{87}$Rb BEC of $3.5 times 10^5$ atoms. Furthermore we demonstrate our ability to independently tailor the potentials for each species, which paves the way for studying impurities immersed in a Bose gas.
In this letter, we present the NNLL-NNLO transverse momentum Higgs distribution arising from gluon fusion. In the regime $p_perpll m_H$ we include the resummation of the large logs at next to next-to leading order and then match on to the $alpha_s^2$ fixed order result near $p_perp sim m_h$. By utilizing the rapidity renormalization group (RRG) we are able to smoothly match between the resummed, small $p_perp$ regime and the fixed order regime. We give a detailed discussion of the scale dependence of the result including an analysis of the rapidity scale dependence. Our central value differs from previous results, in the transition region as well as the tail, by an amount which is outside the error band. This difference is due to the fact that the RRG profile allows us to smoothly turn off the resummation.

We utilize generalized unitarity and recursion relations combined with effective field theory(EFT) techniques to compute spin dependent interaction terms for inspiralling binary systems in the post newtonian(PN) approximation. Using these methods off ers great computational advantage over traditional techniques involving feynman diagrams, especially at higher orders in the PN expansion. As a specific example, we reproduce the spin-orbit interaction up to 2.5 PN order as also the leading order $S^2$(3PN) hamiltonian for an arbitrary massive object. We also obtain the unknown $S^3$(3.5PN) spin hamiltonian for an arbitrary massive object in terms of its low frequency linear response to gravitational perturbations, which was till now known only for a black hole. Furthermore, we derive the missing $S^4$ Hamiltonian at leading order(4PN) for an arbitrary massive object and establish that a minimal coupling of a massive elementary particle to gravity leads to a black hole structure. Finally, the Kerr metric is obtained as a series in $G_N$ by comparing the action of a test particle in the vicinity of a spinning black hole to the derived potential.

We utilize Effective Field Theory(EFT) techniques to calculate the casimir torque on a cylindrical gear in the presence of a polarizable but neutral object. We present results for the energy and torque as a function of angle for a gear with multiple cogs, as well as for the case of a concentric cylindrical gear.
