We report a partial-wave analysis of new data on the double-polarization variable $E$ for the reactions $gamma pto pi^+ n$ and $gamma pto pi^0 p$ and of further data published earlier. The analysis within the Bonn-Gatchina (BnGa) formalism reveals ev idence for a poorly known baryon resonance, the one-star $Delta(2200)7/2^-$. This is the lowest-mass $Delta^*$ resonance with spin-parity $J^P=7/2^-$. Its mass is significantly higher than the mass of its parity partner $Delta(1950)7/2^+$ which is the lowest-mass $Delta^*$ resonance with spin-parity $J^P=7/2^+$. It has been suggested that chiral symmetry might be restored in the high-mass region of hadron excitations, and that these two resonances should be degenerate in mass. Our findings are in conflict with this prediction.
This document outlines major directions in theoretical support for the measurement of nucleon resonance transition form factors at the JLab 12 GeV upgrade with the CLAS12 detector. Using single and double meson production, prominent resonances in the mass range up to 2 GeV will be studied in the range of photon virtuality $Q^2$ up to 12 GeV$^2$ where quark degrees of freedom are expected to dominate. High level theoretical analysis of these data will open up opportunities to understand how the interactions of dressed quarks create the ground and excited nucleon states and how these interactions emerge from QCD. The paper reviews the current status and the prospects of QCD based model approaches that relate phenomenological information on transition form factors to the non-perturbative strong interaction mechanisms, that are responsible for resonance formation.

We present the Bjorken integral extracted from Jefferson Lab experiment EG1b for $0.05<Q^{2}<2.92$ GeV$^2$. The integral is fit to extract the twist-4 element $f_{2}^{p-n}$ which appears to be relatively large and negative. Systematic studies of this higher twist analysis establish its legitimacy at $Q^{2}$ around 1 GeV$^{2}$. We also performed an isospin decomposition of the generalized forward spin polarizability $gamma_{0}$. Although its isovector part provides a reliable test of the calculation techniques of Chiral Perturbation Theory, our data disagree with the calculations.
