In this paper we survey many results on the Dirichlet space of analytic functions. Our focus is more on the classical Dirichlet space on the disc and not the potential generalizations to other domains or several variables. Additionally, we focus mainly on certain function theoretic properties of the Dirichlet space and omit covering the interesting connections between this space and operator theory. The results discussed in this survey show what is known about the Dirichlet space and compares it with the related results for the Hardy space.
In this paper, we study the reducing subspaces for the multiplication operator by a finite Blaschke product $phi$ on the Dirichlet space $D$. We prove that any two distinct nontrivial minimal reducing subspaces of $M_phi$ are orthogonal. When the order $n$ of $phi$ is $2$ or $3$, we show that $M_phi$ is reducible on $D$ if and only if $phi$ is equivalent to $z^n$. When the order of $phi$ is $4$, we determine the reducing subspaces for $M_phi$, and we see that in this case $M_phi$ can be reducible on $D$ when $phi$ is not equivalent to $z^4$. The same phenomenon happens when the order $n$ of $phi$ is not a prime number. Furthermore, we show that $M_phi$ is unitarily equivalent to $M_{z^n} (n > 1)$ on $D$ if and only if $phi = az^n$ for some unimodular constant $a$.
For a Kahler manifold X, we study a space of test functions W* which is a complex version of H1. We prove for W* the classical results of the theory of Dirichlet spaces: the functions in W* are defined up to a pluripolar set and the functional capacity associated to W* tests the pluripolar sets. This functional capacity is a Choquet capacity. The space W* is not reflexive and the smooth functions are not dense in it for the strong topology. So the classical tools of potential theory do not apply here. We use instead pluripotential theory and Dirichlet spaces associated to a current.
This article gives a complex analysis lighting on the problem which consists in restoring a bordered connected riemaniann surface from its boundary and its Dirichlet-Neumann operator. The three aspects of this problem, unicity, reconstruction and characterization are approached.
This paper establishes explicit solutions for fractional diffusion problems on bounded domains. It also gives stochastic solutions, in terms of Markov processes time-changed by an inverse stable subordinator whose index equals the order of the fractional time derivative. Some applications are given, to demonstrate how to specify a well-posed Dirichlet problem for space-time fractional diffusions in one or several variables. This solves an open problem in numerical analysis.
