Present status of the study of the low energy $pipi$ interaction is reviewed, including the recent results on reactions $pi N topipi N$ near threshold. Current experimental values of s-wave $pipi$ scattering lengths are compared with predictions of various theoretical models. Required experimental and theoretical improvements are discussed, in particular the need for a new $K_{e4}$ decay measurement, and a more reliable theoretical interpretation of the near-threshold $pi N topipi N$ data.

We study elastic pion-pion scattering in global linear moose models and apply the results to a variety of Higgsless models in flat and AdS space using the Equivalence Theorem. In order to connect the global moose to Higgsless models, we first introduce a block-spin transformation which corresponds, in the continuum, to the freedom to perform coordinate transformations in the Higgsless model. We show that it is possible to make an f-flat deconstruction in which all of the f-constants f_j of the linear moose model are identical; the phenomenologically relevant f-flat models are those in which the coupling constants of the groups at either end of the moose are small - corresponding to the global linear moose. In studying pion-pion scattering, we derive various sum rules, including one analogous to the KSRF relation, and use them in evaluating the low-energy and high-energy forms of the leading elastic partial wave scattering amplitudes. We obtain elastic unitarity bounds as a function of the mass of the lightest KK mode and discuss their physical significance.
Focusing on three-pion states with maximal isospin ($pi^+pi^+pi^+$), we present the first non-perturbative determination of an energy-dependent three-hadron scattering amplitude from first-principles QCD. The calculation combines finite-volume three-hadron energies, extracted using numerical lattice QCD, with a relativistic finite-volume formalism, required to interpret the results. To fully implement the latter, we also solve integral equations that relate an intermediate three-body K matrix to the physical three-hadron scattering amplitude. The resulting amplitude shows rich analytic structure and a complicated dependence on the two-pion invariant masses, represented here via Dalitz-like plots of the scattering rate.
We calculate the thermal evolution of $pi-pi$ scattering lengths, in the frame of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. The thermal corrections were calculated at the one loop level using Thermofield Dynamics. We present also results for the pion thermal mass. Our procedure implies the modeling of a propagating scalar meson as a resumation of chains of quark bubbles, which is presented explicitly. We compare our results with previous analysis of this problem in the frame of different theoretical approaches.
We present a determination of the mass, width and coupling of the strange resonances appearing in pion-kaon scattering below 1.8 GeV, namely the much debated $K^*_0(800)$ or $kappa$, the scalar $K^*_0(1430)$, the $K^*(892)$ and $K^*(1410)$ vectors, the spin-two $K^*_2(1430)$ as well as the spin-three $K^*_3(1780)$. The parameters of each resonance are determined using a direct analytic continuation of the pion-kaon partial waves by means of Pade approximants, thus avoiding any particular model description of their pole positions and residues, while taking into account the analytic requirements imposed by dispersion relations.
We show that there exist uncanceled soft divergences in the k_T factorization for nonfactorizable amplitudes of two-body nonleptonic B meson decays, similar to those identified in hadron hadroproduction. These divergences can be grouped into a soft factor using the eikonal approximation, which is then treated as an additional nonperturbative input in the perturbative QCD formalism. Viewing the special role of the pion as a q-qbar bound state and as a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson, we postulate that the soft effect associated with it is significant. This soft factor enhances the nonfactorizable color-suppressed tree amplitudes, such that the branching ratios B(pi^0 pi^0) and B(pi^0 rho^0) are increased under the constraint of the B(rho^0 rho^0) data, the difference between the direct CP asymmetries A_{CP}(pi^mp K^pm) and A_{CP}(pi^0 K^pm) is enlarged, and the mixing-induced CP asymmetry S_{pi^0 K_S} is reduced. Namely, the known pi pi and pi K puzzles can be resolved simultaneously.
