We describe the null geometry of a multiple black hole event horizon in terms of a conformal rescaling of a flat space null hypersurface. For the prolate spheroidal case, we show that the method reproduces the pair-of-pants shaped horizon found in the numerical simulation of the head-on-collision of black holes. For the oblate case, it reproduces the initially toroidal event horizon found in the numerical simulation of collapse of a rotating cluster. The analytic nature of the approach makes further conclusions possible, such as a bearing on the hoop conjecture. From a time reversed point of view, the approach yields a description of the past event horizon of a fissioning white hole, which can be used as null data for the characteristic evolution of the exterior space-time.

We compare GW150914 directly to simulations of coalescing binary black holes in full general relativity, accounting for all the spin-weighted quadrupolar modes, and separately accounting for all the quadrupolar and octopolar modes. Consistent with the posterior distributions reported in LVC_PE[1] (at 90% confidence), we find the data are compatible with a wide range of nonprecessing and precessing simulations. Followup simulations performed using previously-estimated binary parameters most resemble the data. Comparisons including only the quadrupolar modes constrain the total redshifted mass Mz in [64 - 82M_odot], mass ratio q = m2/m1 in [0.6,1], and effective aligned spin chi_eff in [-0.3, 0.2], where chi_{eff} = (S1/m1 + S2/m2) cdothat{L} /M. Including both quadrupolar and octopolar modes, we find the mass ratio is even more tightly constrained. Simulations with extreme mass ratios and effective spins are highly inconsistent with the data, at any mass. Several nonprecessing and precessing simulations with similar mass ratio and chi_{eff} are consistent with the data. Though correlated, the components spins (both in magnitude and directions) are not significantly constrained by the data. For nonprecessing binaries, interpolating between simulations, we reconstruct a posterior distribution consistent with previous results. The final black holes redshifted mass is consistent with Mf,z between 64.0 - 73.5M_odot and the final black holes dimensionless spin parameter is consistent with af = 0.62 - 0.73. As our approach invokes no intermediate approximations to general relativity and can strongly reject binaries whose radiation is inconsistent with the data, our analysis provides a valuable complement to LVC_PE[1].

Recent progress in numerical relativity has enabled us to model the non-perturbative merger phase of the binary black-hole coalescence problem. Based on these results, we propose a phenomenological family of waveforms which can model the inspiral, merger, and ring-down stages of black hole coalescence. We also construct a template bank using this family of waveforms and discuss its implementation in the search for signatures of gravitational waves produced by black-hole coalescences in the data of ground-based interferometers. This template bank might enable us to extend the present inspiral searches to higher-mass binary black-hole systems, i.e., systems with total mass greater than about 80 solar masses, thereby increasing the reach of the current generation of ground-based detectors.
Spherically gravitational collapse towards a black hole with non-zero tangential pressure is studied. Exact solutions corresponding to different equations of state are given. We find that when taking the tangential pressure into account, the exact solutions have three qualitatively different endings. For positive tangential pressure, the shell around a black hole may eventually collapse onto the black hole, or expand to infinity, or have a static but unstable solution, depending on the combination of black hole mass, mass of the shell and the pressure parameter. For vanishing or negative pressure, the shell will collapse onto the black hole. For all eventually collapsing solutions, the shell will cross the event horizon, instead of accumulating outside the event horizon, even if clocked by a distant stationary observer.
We propose a novel method to test the binary black hole (BBH) nature of compact binaries detectable by gravitational wave (GW) interferometers and hence constrain the parameter space of other exotic compact objects. The spirit of the test lies in the no-hair conjecture for black holes where all properties of a black hole are characterised by the mass and the spin of the black hole. The method relies on observationally measuring the quadrupole moments of the compact binary constituents induced due to their spins. If the compact object is a Kerr black hole (BH), its quadrupole moment is expressible solely in terms of its mass and spin. Otherwise, the quadrupole moment can depend on additional parameters (such as equation of state of the object). The higher order spin effects in phase and amplitude of a gravitational waveform, which explicitly contains the spin-induced quadrupole moments of compact objects, hence uniquely encodes the nature of the compact binary. Thus we argue that an independent measurement of the spin-induced quadrupole moment of the compact binaries from GW observations can provide a unique way to distinguish binary BH systems from binaries consisting of exotic compact objects.

We found exact solutions for canonical classical and quantum dynamics for general relativity in Horwitz general covarience theory. These solutions can be obtained by solving the generalized geodesic equation and Schr{o}dinger-Stueckelberg -Horwitz-Piron (SHP) wave equation for a simple harmonic oscilator in the background of a two dimensional dilaton black hole spacetime metric. We proved the existence of an orthonormal basis of eigenfunctions for generalized wave equation. This basis functions form an orthogonanl and normalized (orthonormal) basis for an appropriate Hilbert space. The energy spectrum has a mixed spectrum with one conserved momentum $p$ according to a quantum number $n$. To find the ground state energy we used a variational method with appropriate boundary conditions. A set of mode decomposed wave functions and calculated for the Stueckelberg-Schrodinger equation on a general five dimensional blackhole spacetime in Hamilton gauge.
