We propose an extension of the Landauer-Buttiker scattering theory to include effects of interaction in the active region of a mesoscopic conductor structure. The current expression obtained coincides with those derived by different methods. A new general expression for the noise is also established. These expressions are then discussed in the case of strongly sequential tunneling through a double-barrier resonant tunneling structure.

We demonstrate that nuclear spin fluctuations lead to the electric current noise in the mesoscopic samples of organic semiconductors showing the pronounced magnetoresistance in weak fields. For the bipolaron and electron-hole mechanisms of organic magnetoresistance, the current noise spectrum consists of the high frequency peak related to the nuclear spin precession in the Knight field of the charge carriers and the low frequency peak related to the nuclear spin relaxation. The shape of the spectrum depends on the external magnetic and radiofrequency fields, which allows one to prove the role of nuclei in magnetoresistance experimentally.
We present a quantum calculation based on scattering theory of the frequency dependent noise of current in an interacting chaotic cavity. We include interactions of the electron system via long range Coulomb forces between the conductor and a gate with capacitance $C$. We obtain explicit results exhibiting the two time scales of the problem, the cavitys dwell time $tau_D$ and the $RC$-time $tau_C$ of the cavity {em vis `a vis} the gate. The noise shows peculiarities at frequencies of the order and exceeding the inverse charge relaxation time $tau^{-1} = tau^{-1}_D+tau^{-1}_C $.
We present a new scheme to detect the quantum shot noise in coupled mesoscopic systems. By applying the noise thermometry to the capacitively coupled quantum point contacts (QPCs) we prove that the noise temperature of one QPC is in perfect proportion to that of the other QPC which is driven to non-equilibrium to generate quantum shot noise. We also found an unexpected effect that the noise in the source QPC is remarkably suppressed possibly due to the cooling effect by the detector QPC.
We consider the fluctuations of the electrical current (shot noise) in the presence of a voltage time-modulation. For a non-interacting metal, it is known that the derivative of the photo-assisted noise has a staircase behavior. In the presence of Coulomb interactions, we show that the photo-assisted noise presents a more complex profile, in particular for the two following systems: 1) a two-dimensional electron gas in the fractional quantum Hall regime for which we have obtained evenly spaced singularities in the noise derivative, with a spacing related to the filling factor and, 2) a carbon nanotube for which a smoothed staircase in the noise derivative is obtained.

We analyze the transport properties of a semiconductor based bilayer system under non-equilibrium conditions with special emphasis on the charge transfer statistics in the regime dominated by the exciton transport. We consider two different models. In one of them the transport occurs incoherently and is dominated by incoherent tunneling processes of individual excitons, while in the other system no disorder is present and transport processes are fully coherent. We find that the strength of cross correlations of currents in different layers is only insignificantly affected by the disorder and shows up similar behaviour in both systems. We discuss possible experimental realizations and make predictions for measurable quantities.
