We present a new bouncing cosmological solution of the non-local theory known as infinite derivative gravity, which goes beyond the recursive ansatz, ${Box R = r_1 R +r_2}$. The non-local field equations are evaluated using the spectral decomposition with respect to the eigenfunctions of the wave operator. The energy-momentum tensor computed for this geometry turns out to be much more sensitive to the choice of the non-local form-factor, since it depends on the value of the function on a continuous infinite interval. We show that this stronger dependence on the form-factor allows us to source the geometry by the perfect fluid with the non-negative energy density satisfying the strong energy condition. We show that this bouncing behaviour is not possible in the local theories of gravity such as in general relativity or $R+R^2$ gravity sourced by a fluid which meets the non-negative energy and strong energy conditions.

We investigate FRW cosmological solutions in the theory of modulus field coupled to gravity through a Gauss-Bonnet term. The explicit analytical forms of nonsingular asymptotics are presented for power-law and exponentially steep modulus coupling functions. We study the influence of modulus field potential on these asymptotical regimes and find some forms of the potential which do not destroy the nonsingular behavior. In particular, we obtain that exponentially steep coupling functions arising from the string theory do not allow nonsingular past asymptotic unless modulus field potential tends to zero for modulus field $psi to pm infty$. Finally, the modification of the chaotic dynamics in the closed FRW universe due to presence of the Gauss-Bonnet term is discussed.

We construct a class of generalized non-local gravity (GNLG) model which is the modified theory of general relativity (GR) obtained by adding a term $m^{2n-2} RBox^{-n}R$ to the Einstein-Hilbert action. Concretely, we not only study the gravitational equation for the GNLG model by introducing auxiliary scalar fields, but also analyse the classical stability and examine the cosmological consequences of the model for different exponent $n$. We find that the half of the scalar fields are always ghost-like and the exponent $n$ must be taken even number for a stable GNLG model. Meanwhile, the model spontaneously generates three dominant phases of the evolution of the universe, and the equation of state parameters turn out to be phantom-like. Furthermore, we clarify in another way that exponent $n$ should be even numbers by discuss the spherically symmetric static solutions in Newtonian gauge. It is worth stressing that the results given by us can include ones in refs. [28, 34] as the special case of $n=2$.
We find a new homogeneous solution to the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a cosmological term. The spacetime manifold is $R times S^3$. The spacetime metric admits a simply transitive isometry group $G = R times SU(2)$ of isometries and is of Petrov type I. The spacetime is geodesically complete and globally hyperbolic. The electromagnetic field is non-null and non-inheriting: it is only invariant with respect to the $SU(2)$ subgroup and is time-dependent in a stationary reference frame.
We analytically derive a class of non-singular, static and spherically symmetric topological black hole metrics inF(R)-gravity. These have not a de Sitter core at their centre, as most model in standard General Relativity. We study the geometric properties and the motion of test particles around these objects. Since they have two horizons, the inner being of Cauchy type, we focus on the problem of mass inflation and show that it occurs except when some extremal conditions are met.
We show that it is possible to realize a cosmological bouncing solution in an anisotropic but homogeneous Bianchi-I background in a class of non-local, infinite derivative theories of gravity. We show that the anisotropic shear grows slower than in general relativity during the contraction phase, peaks to a finite value at the bounce point, and then decreases as the universe asymptotes towards isotropy and homogeneity, and ultimately to de Sitter. Along with a cosmological constant, the matter sector required to drive such a bounce is found to consist of three components - radiation, stiff matter and $k$-matter (whose energy density decays like the inverse square of the average scale factor). Generically, $k$-matter exerts anisotropic pressures. We will test the bouncing solution in local and non-local gravity and show that in the latter case it is possible to simultaneously satisfy positivity of energy density and, at least in the late time de Sitter phase, avoid the introduction of propagating ghost/tachyonic modes.
