We explore thermalization and quantum dynamics in a one-dimensional disordered SU(2)-symmetric Floquet model, where a many-body localized phase is prohibited by the non-abelian symmetry. Despite the absence of localization, we find an extended nonergodic regime at strong disorder where the system exhibits nonthermal behaviors. In the strong disorder regime, the level spacing statistics exhibit neither a Wigner-Dyson nor a Poisson distribution, and the spectral form factor does not show a linear-in-time growth at early times characteristic of random matrix theory. The average entanglement entropy of the Floquet eigenstates is subthermal, although violating an area-law scaling with system sizes. We further compute the expectation value of local observables and find strong deviations from the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis. The infinite temperature spin autocorrelation function decays at long times as $t^{-beta}$ with $beta < 0.5$, indicating subdiffusive transport at strong disorders.

In this work we probe the dynamics of the particle-hole symmetric many-body localized (MBL) phase. We provide numerical evidence that it can be characterized by an algebraic propagation of both entanglement and charge, unlike in the conventional MBL case. We explain the mechanism of this anomalous diffusion through a formation of bound states, which coherently propagate via long-range resonances. By projecting onto the two-particle sector of the particle-hole symmetric model, we show that the formation and observed subdiffusive dynamics is a consequence of an interplay between symmetry and interactions.

The Haldane-Shastry model is one of the most studied interacting spin systems. The Yangian symmetry makes it exactly solvable, and the model has semionic excitations. We introduce disorder into the Haldane-Shastry model by allowing the spins to sit at random positions on the unit circle and study the properties of the eigenstates. At weak disorder, the spectrum is similar to the spectrum of the clean Haldane-Shastry model. At strong disorder, the long-range interactions in the model do not decay as a simple power law. The eigenstates in the middle of the spectrum follow a volume law, but the coefficient is small, and the entropy is hence much less than for an ergodic system. In addition, the energy level spacing statistics is neither Poissonian nor of the Wigner-Dyson type. The behavior at strong disorder hence serves as an example of a non-ergodic phase, which is not of the many-body localized kind, in a model with long-range interactions and SU(2) symmetry.
We investigate the transition induced by disorder in a periodically-driven one-dimensional model displaying quantized topological transport. We show that, while instantaneous eigenstates are necessarily Anderson localized, the periodic driving plays a fundamental role in delocalizing Floquet states over the whole system, henceforth allowing for a steady state nearly-quantized current. Remarkably, this is linked to a localization/delocalization transition in the Floquet states of a one dimensional driven Anderson insulator, which occurs for periodic driving corresponding to a nontrivial loop in the parameter space. As a consequence, the Floquet spectrum becomes continuous in the delocalized phase, in contrast with a pure-point instantaneous spectrum.
Using a numerically exact technique we study spin transport and the evolution of spin-density excitation profiles in a disordered spin-chain with long-range interactions, decaying as a power-law, $r^{-alpha}$ with distance and $alpha<2$. Our study confirms the prediction of recent theories that the system is delocalized in this parameters regime. Moreover we find that for $alpha>3/2$ the underlying transport is diffusive with a transient super-diffusive tail, similarly to the situation in clean long-range systems. We generalize the Griffiths picture to long-range systems and show that it captures the essential properties of the exact dynamics.
The notion of Thouless energy plays a central role in the theory of Anderson localization. We investigate the scaling of Thouless energy across the many-body localization (MBL) transition in a Floquet model. We use a combination of methods that are reliable on the ergodic side of the transition (e.g., spectral form factor) and methods that work on the MBL side (e.g. typical matrix elements of local operators) to obtain a complete picture of the Thouless energy behavior across the transition. On the ergodic side, the Thouless energy tends to a value independent of system size, while at the transition it becomes comparable to the level spacing. Different probes yield consistent estimates of the Thouless energy in their overlapping regime of applicability, giving the location of the transition point nearly free of finite-size drift. This work establishes a connection between different definitions of Thouless energy in a many-body setting, and yields new insights into the MBL transition in Floquet systems.
