Based on a number of features from proton-proton collisions taken during Run 1 data taking period at the LHC, a boson with a mass around the Electro-Weak scale was postulated such that a significant fraction of its decays would comprise the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson and an additional scalar, $S$. One of the phenomenological implications of a simplified model, where $S$ is treated a SM Higgs boson, is the anomalous production of high transverse momentum leptons. A combined study of Run 1 and Run 2 data is indicative of very significant discrepancies between the data and SM Monte Carlos in a variety of final states involving multiple leptons with and without $b$-quarks. These discrepancies appear in corners of the phase-space where different SM processes dominate, indicating that the potential mismodeling of a particular SM process is unlikely to explain them. Systematic uncertainties from the prediction of SM processes evaluated with currently available tools seem unable to explain away these discrepancies. The internal consistency of these anomalies and their interpretation in the framework of the original hypothesis is quantified.

We comprehensively examine precision predictions for scalar leptoquark pair production at the LHC. In particular, we investigate the impact of lepton $t$-channel exchange diagrams that are potentially relevant in the context of leptoquark scenarios providing an explanation for the flavour anomalies. We also evaluate the corresponding total rates at the next-to-leading order in QCD. Moreover, we complement this calculation with the resummation of soft-gluon radiation at the next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy, hence providing the most precise predictions for leptoquark pair production at the LHC to date. Relying on a variety of benchmark scenarios favoured by the anomalies, our results exhibit an interesting interplay between the $t$-channel diagram contributions, the flavour texture satisfied by the leptoquark Yukawa couplings, the leptoquark masses and their representations under the Standard Model gauge group, as well as the chosen set of parton densities used for the numerical evaluations. The net effect on a cross section turns out to be very non-generic and ranges up to about 60% with respect to the usual next-to-leading-order predictions in QCD (i.e. without any $t$-channel contribution) for some scenarios considered. Dedicated calculations are thus required for any individual leptoquark model that could be considered in a collider analysis in order to assess the size of the studied corrections. In order to facilitate such calculations we provide dedicated public numerical packages.
We present a state-of-the-art calculation of the next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections to ZZ production, including the leptonic decays of the Z bosons into $mu^+mu^-mathrm{e}^+mathrm{e}^-$ or $mu^+mu^-mu^+mu^-$ final states. We use complete leading-order and next-to-leading-order matrix elements for four-lepton production, including contributions of virtual photons and all off-shell effects of Z bosons, where the finite Z-boson width is taken into account using the complex-mass scheme. The matrix elements are implemented into Monte Carlo programs allowing for the evaluation of arbitrary differential distributions. We present integrated and differential cross sections for the LHC at 13 TeV both for an inclusive setup where only lepton identification cuts are applied, and for a setup motivated by Higgs-boson analyses in the four-lepton decay channel. The electroweak corrections are divided into photonic and purely weak contributions. The former show the well-known pronounced tails near kinematical thresholds and resonances; the latter are generically at the level of $sim-5%$ and reach several $-10%$ in the high-energy tails of distributions. Comparing the results for $mu^+mu^-mathrm{e}^+mathrm{e}^-$ and $mu^+mu^-mu^+mu^-$ final states, we find significant differences mainly in distributions that are sensitive to the $mu^+mu^-$ pairing in the $mu^+mu^-mu^+mu^-$ final state. Differences between $mu^+mu^-mathrm{e}^+mathrm{e}^-$ and $mu^+mu^-mu^+mu^-$ channels due to interferences of equal-flavour leptons in the final state can reach up to $10%$ in off-shell-sensitive regions. Contributions induced by incoming photons, i.e. photon-photon and quark-photon channels, are included, but turn out to be phenomenologically unimportant.
The production of a neutral and a charged vector boson with subsequent decays into three charged leptons and a neutrino is a very important process for precision tests of the Standard Model of elementary particles and in searches for anomalous triple-gauge-boson couplings. In this article, the first computation of next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections to the production of the four-lepton final states $mu^+mu^- e^+ u_e$, $mu^+mu^- e^- bar u_e$, $mu^+mu^- mu^+ u_mu$, and $mu^+mu^- mu^- bar u_mu$ at the Large Hadron Collider is presented. We use the complete matrix elements at leading and next-to-leading order, including all off-shell effects of intermediate massive vector bosons and virtual photons. The relative electroweak corrections to the fiducial cross sections from quark-induced partonic processes vary between $-3%$ and $-6%$, depending significantly on the event selection. At the level of differential distributions, we observe large negative corrections of up to $-30%$ in the high-energy tails of distributions originating from electroweak Sudakov logarithms. Photon-induced contributions at next-to-leading order raise the leading-order fiducial cross section by $+2%$. Interference effects in final states with equal-flavour leptons are at the permille level for the fiducial cross section, but can lead to sizeable effects in off-shell sensitive phase-space regions.

The pair production of a $W$ and a $Z$ boson at the LHC is an important process to study the triple-gauge boson couplings as well as to probe new physics that could arise in the gauge sector. In particular the leptonic channel $p p to W^pm Zto 3ell + u + X$ is considered by ATLAS and CMS collaborations. Polarisation observables can help pinning down new physics and give information on the spin of the gauge bosons. Measuring them requires high statistics as well as precise theoretical predictions. We define in this contribution fiducial polarisation observables for the $W$ and $Z$ bosons and we present theoretical predictions in the Standard Model at next-to-leading order (NLO) including QCD as well as NLO electroweak corrections, the latter in the double-pole approximation. We also show that this approximation works remarkably well for $W^pm Z$ production at the LHC by comparing to the full results.
At the LHC energies, the underlying observables are of major topic of interest in high multiplicity $p+p$ collisions. Multiple Parton Interactions (MPI) is one of them, in which several interactions occur in a single $p+p$ collision. It is believed that MPI is the main reason behind the high multiplicity in $p+p$ collisions at the LHC. It was believed that MPI has only effect to the soft particle production, but recent ALICE result reveals that it can also affect the hard-particle production. In such case, the self normalized yield of heavy particle like $rm J/psi$ shows an increasing trend with event multiplicity. In the present contribution, we discuss the energy and multiplicity dependence of charmonium production to understand the effects of MPI on charmonium production.
