With the development of self-interference (SI) cancelation technology, full-duplex (FD) communication becomes possible. FD communication can theoretically double the spectral efficiency. When the time slot (TS) resources are limited and the number of flows is large, the scheduling mechanism of the flows becomes more important. Therefore, the effectiveness of FD scheduling mechanism for the flows is studied in millimeter wave wireless backhaul network with the limited TS resources. We proposed a full duplex concurrent scheduling algorithm based on coalition game (FDCG) to maximize the number of flows with their QoS requirements satisfied. We transformed the problem of maximizing the number of flows with their QoS requirements satisfied into the problem of maximizing sum rate of concurrently scheduled flows in each slot. We obtained the scheduled flows with maximum sum rate in first slot by using coalition game.And then with certain restrictions, the maximum sum rate of concurrently scheduled flows can also be achieved in subsequent time slots. The simulation results show that the proposed FDCG algorithm can achieve superior performance in terms of the number of flows that meet their QoS requirements and system throughput compared with other three algorithms.
The millimeter wave (mmWave) communication has drawn intensive attention with abundant band resources. In this paper, we consider the popular content distribution (PCD) problem in the mmWave vehicular network. In order to offload the communication burden of base stations (BSs), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication is introduced into the PCD problem to transmit contents between on-board units (OBUs) and improve the transmission efficiency. We propose a full-duplex (FD) cooperative scheme based on coalition formation game, and the utility function is provided based on the maximization of the number of received contents. The contribution of each member in the coalition can be transferable to its individual profit. While maximizing the number of received contents in the fixed time, the cooperative scheme also ensures the individual profit of each OBU in the coalition. We evaluate the proposed scheme by extensive simulations in mmWave vehicular networks. Compared with other existing schemes, the proposed scheme has superior performances on the number of possessed contents and system fairness. Besides, the low complexity of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by the switch operation number and CPU time.
Drone-mounted base stations (DBSs) are promising solutions to provide ubiquitous connections to users and support many applications in the fifth generation of mobile networks while full duplex communications has the potential to improve the spectrum efficiency. In this paper, we have investigated the backhaul-aware uplink communications in a full-duplex DBS-aided HetNet (BUD) problem with the objective to maximize the total throughput of the network, and this problem is decomposed into two sub-problems: the DBS Placement problem (including the vertical dimension and horizontal dimensions) and the joint UE association, power and bandwidth assignment (Joint-UPB) problem. Since the BUD problem is NP-hard, we propose approximation algorithms to solve the sub-problems and another, named the AA-BUD algorithm, to solve the BUD problem with guaranteed performance. The performance of the AA-BUD algorithm has been demonstrated via extensive simulations, and it is superior to two benchmark algorithms with up to 45.8% throughput improvement.
In the last years, the advancements in signal processing and integrated circuits technology allowed several research groups to develop working prototypes of in-band full-duplex wireless systems. The introduction of such a revolutionary concept is promising in terms of increasing network performance, but at the same time poses several new challenges, especially at the MAC layer. Consequently, innovative channel access strategies are needed to exploit the opportunities provided by full-duplex while dealing with the increased complexity derived from its adoption. In this direction, this paper proposes RTS/CTS in the Frequency Domain (RCFD), a MAC layer scheme for full-duplex ad hoc wireless networks, based on the idea of time-frequency channel contention. According to this approach, different OFDM subcarriers are used to coordinate how nodes access the shared medium. The proposed scheme leads to efficient transmission scheduling with the result of avoiding collisions and exploiting full-duplex opportunities. The considerable performance improvements with respect to standard and state-of-the-art MAC protocols for wireless networks are highlighted through both theoretical analysis and network simulations.
Recent applications of the Full Duplex (FD) technology focus on enabling simultaneous control communication and data transmission to reduce the control information exchange overhead, which impacts end-to-end latency and spectral efficiency. In this paper, we present a simultaneous direction estimation and data transmission scheme for millimeter Wave (mmWave) massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems, enabled by a recent FD MIMO technology with reduced hardware complexity Self-Interference (SI) cancellation. We apply the proposed framework in the mmWave analog beam management problem, considering a base station equipped with a large transmit antenna array realizing downlink analog beamforming and few digitally controlled receive antenna elements used for uplink Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) estimation. A joint optimization framework for designing the DoA-assisted analog beamformer and the analog as well as digital SI cancellation is presented with the objective to maximize the achievable downlink rate. Our simulation results showcase that the proposed scheme outperforms its conventional half-duplex counterpart, yielding reduced DoA estimation error and superior downlink data rate.
In this paper, we propose a transceiver architecture for full-duplex (FD) eNodeB (eNB) and FD user equipment (UE) transceiver. For FD communication,.i.e., simultaneous in-band uplink and downlink operation, same subcarriers can be allocated to UE in both uplink and downlink. Hence, contrary to traditional LTE, we propose using single-carrier frequency division multiple accesses (SC-FDMA) for downlink along with the conventional method of using it for uplink. The use of multiple antennas at eNB and singular value decomposition (SVD) in the downlink allows multiple users (MU) to operate on the same set of ubcarriers. In the uplink, successive interference cancellation with optimal ordering (SSIC-OO) algorithm is used to decouple signals of UEs operating in the same set of subcarriers. A smart antenna approach is adopted which prevents interference, in downlink of a UE, from uplink signals of other UEs sharing same subcarriers. The approach includes using multiple antennas at UEs to form directed beams towards eNode and nulls towards other UEs. The proposed architecture results in significant improvement of the overall spectrum efficiency per cell of the cellular network.
