We consider lambda and anisotropic deformations of the SU(2) principal chiral model and show how they can be quantized in the Hamiltonian formalism on a lattice as a suitable spin chain. The spin chain is related to the higher spin XXZ Heisenberg chain and can be solved by using the Bethe Ansatz. This yields the spectrum and S-matrix of the excitations. In particular, we find the S-matrix in the gapped anti-ferromagnetic regime. In this regime, a continuum limit does not exist and this suggests that the field theories in this regime, precisely ones with a cyclic RG like the Yang-Baxter deformations, may only exist as effective theories. In a certain limit, we show that the XXZ type lambda model gives the symmetric space SU(2)/U(1) lambda model and, hence, we are able to find its spectrum and S-matrix and show that it gives the S-matrix of the O(3) sigma model in the appropriate limit. Finally, we show the full consistency of the S-matrix and the Lagrangian formulations of the lambda model, by coupling to a conserved charge and computing the way the ground state energy changes in both pictures.

This review is dedicated to two-dimensional sigma models with flag manifold target spaces, which are generalizations of the familiar $CP^{n-1}$ and Grassmannian models. They naturally arise in the description of continuum limits of spin chains, and their phase structure is sensitive to the values of the topological angles, which are determined by the representations of spins in the chain. Gapless phases can in certain cases be explained by the presence of discrete t Hooft anomalies in the continuum theory. We also discuss integrable flag manifold sigma models, which provide a generalization of the theory of integrable models with symmetric target spaces. These models, as well as their deformations, have an alternative equivalent formulation as bosonic Gross-Neveu models, which proves useful for demonstrating that the deformed geometries are solutions of the renormalization group (Ricci flow) equations, as well as for the analysis of anomalies and for describing potential couplings to fermions.
We apply the dressing method on the Non Linear Sigma Model (NLSM), which describes the propagation of strings on $mathbb{R}times mathrm{S}^2$, for an arbitrary seed. We obtain a formal solution of the corresponding auxiliary system, which is expressed in terms of the solutions of the NLSM that have the same Pohlmeyer counterpart as the seed. Accordingly, we show that the dressing method can be applied without solving any differential equations. In this context a superposition principle emerges: The dressed solution is expressed as a non-linear superposition of the seed with solutions of the NLSM with the same Pohlmeyer counterpart as the seed.
We introduce and study conformal field theories specified by $W-$algebras commuting with certain set of screening charges. These CFTs possess perturbations which define integrable QFTs. We establish that these QFTs have local and non-local Integrals of Motion and admit the perturbation theory in the weak coupling region. We construct factorized scattering theory which is consistent with non-local Integrals of Motion and perturbation theory. In the strong coupling limit the $S-$matrix of this QFT tends to the scattering matrix of the $O(N)$ sigma model. The perturbation theory, Bethe anzatz technique, renormalization group approach and methods of conformal field theory are applied to show, that the constructed QFTs are dual to integrable deformation of $O(N)$ sigma-models.

Applying the (infinite) density-matrix renormalisation group technique, we explore the effect of an explicit dimerisation on the ground-state phase diagram of the spin-1 $XXZ$ chain with single-ion anisotropy $D$. We demonstrate that the Haldane phase between large-$D$ and antiferromagnetic phases survives up to a critical dimerisation only. As a further new characteristic the dimerisation induces a direct continuous Ising quantum phase transition between the large-$D$ and antiferromagnetic phases with central charge $c=1/2$, which terminates at a critical end-point where $c=7/10$. Calculating the critical exponents of the order parameter, neutral gap and spin-spin-correlation function, we find $beta=1/8$ (1/24), $ u=1$ (5/9), and $eta=1/4$ (3/20), respectively, which proves the Ising (tricritical Ising) universality class in accordance with field-theoretical predictions.

We reexamine the spin-orbit splitting of 9 Lambda Be excited states in terms of the SU_6 quark-model baryon-baryon interaction. The previous folding procedure to generate the Lambda alpha spin-orbit potential from the quark-model Lambda N LS interaction kernel predicted three to five times larger values for Delta E_{ell s}=E_x(3/2^+)-E_x(5/2^+) in the model FSS and fss2. This time, we calculate Lambda alpha LS Born kernel, starting from the LS components of the nuclear-matter G-matrix for the Lambda hyperon. This framework makes it possible to take full account of an important P-wave Lambda N - Sigma N coupling through the antisymmetric LS^{(-)} force involved in the Fermi-Breit interaction. We find that the experimental value, Delta E^{exp}_{ell s}=43 pm 5 keV, is reproduced by the quark-model G-matrix LS interaction with a Fermi-momentum around k_F=1.0 fm^{-1}, when the model FSS is used in the energy-independent renormalized RGM formalism.
