We present thermoelectric power and resistivity measurements in the ferromagnet UGe$_2$ as a function of temperature and magnetic field. At low temperature, huge quantum oscillations are observed in the thermoelectric power as a function of the magnetic field applied along the $a$ axis. The frequencies of the extreme orbits are determined and an analysis of the cyclotron masses is performed following different theoretical approaches for quantum oscillations detected in the thermoelectric power. They are compared to those obtained by Shubnikov-de Haas experiments on the same crystal and previous de Haas-van Alphen experiments. The agreement of the different probes confirms thermoelectric power as an excellent probe to extract simultaneously both microscopic and macroscopic information on the Fermi-surface properties. Band-structure calculations of UGe$_2$ in the ferromagnetic state are compared to the experiment.

We report a detailed study of UGe$_{2}$ single crystals using infrared reflectivity and spectroscopic ellipsometry. The optical conductivity suggests the presence of a low frequency interband transition and a narrow free-carrier response with strong frequency dependence of the scattering rate and effective mass. We observe sharp changes in the low frequency mass and scattering rate below the upper ferromagnetic transition $T_C = 53 K$. The characteristic changes are exhibited most strongly at an energy scale of around 12 meV (100 cm$^{-1}$). They recover their unrenormalized value above $T_C$ and for $omega >$ 40 meV. In contrast no sign of an anomaly is seen at the lower transition temperature of unknown nature $T_x sim$ 30 K, observed in transport and thermodynamic experiments. In the ferromagnetic state we find signatures of a strong coupling to the longitudinal magnetic excitations that have been proposed to mediate unconventional superconductivity in this compound.
Topological semimetals are systems in which the conduction and the valence bands cross each other and this crossing is protected by topological constraints. These materials provide an intriguing test of fundamental theory and their exceptional physical properties promise a wide range of possible applications. Here we report a study of the thermoelectric power (S) for a single crystal of ZrSiS that is believed to be a topological nodal-line semimetal. We detect multiple quantum oscillations in the magnetic field dependence of S that are still visible at temperature as high as T = 100 K. Two of these oscillation frequencies are shown to arise from 3D and 2D bands, each with linear dispersion and the additional Berry phase expected theoretically.
We performed the DC-magnetization and neutron scattering experiments under pressure {it P} for a pressure-induced superconductor UGe$_2$. We found that the magnetic moment is enhanced at a characteristic temperature {it T}$^{*}$ in the ferromagnetic state, where {it T}$^{*}$ is smaller than a Curie temperature {it T}$_{rm C}$. This enhancement becomes remarkable in the vicinity of {it P}$_{rm C}^{*}$ = 1.20 GPa, where {it T}$^{*}$ becomes 0 K and the superconducting transition temperature {it T}$_{rm SC}$ shows a maximum. The characteristic temperature {it T}$^{*}$, which decreases with increasing pressure, also depends on the magnetic field.
We present a detailed study of quantum oscillations in the antiferromagnetically ordered pnictide compound SrFe$_2$As$_2$ as the angle between the applied magnetic field and crystalline axes is varied. Our measurements were performed on high quality single crystals in a superconducting magnet, and in pulsed magnetic fields up to 60 T, allowing us to observe orbits from several small Fermi surface pockets. We extract the cyclotron effective mass $m^{star}$ and frequency $F$ for these orbits and track their values as the field is rotated away from the c-axis. While a constant ratio of $m^{star}/F$ is observed for one orbit as expected for a parabolic band, a clear deviation is observed for another. We conclude that this deviation points to an orbit derived from a band with Dirac dispersion near the Fermi level.
The heat-capacity and magnetization measurements under high pressure have been carried out in a ferromagnetic superconductor UGe$_2$. Both measurements were done using a same pressure cell in order to obtain both data for one pressure. Contrary to the heat capacity at ambient pressure, an anomaly is found in the heat capacity at the characteristic temperature $T^{*}$ where the magnetization shows an anomalous enhancement under high pressure where the superconductivity appears. This suggests that a thermodynamic phase transition takes place at $T^{*}$ at least under high pressure slightly below $P_{c}^{*}$ where $T^{*}$ becomes zero. The heat-capacity anomaly associated with the superconducting transition is also investigated, where a clear peak of $C/T$ is observed in a narrow pressure region ($Delta P sim 0.1$ GPa) around $P_{c}^{*}$ contrary to the previous results of the resistivity measurement. Present results suggest the importance of the thermodynamic critical point $P_{c}^{*}$ for the appearance of the superconductivity.
