Scintillation detector has lower energy resolution for Gamma-ray as compared to semiconductor detector, better spectra analysis method is essential to traditional method. A model for describing the response function of scintillation detector over the range of incident Gamma-ray energies between 0.5 and 1.5 MeV has been established and applied to fitting radiation sources spectra. Each function form for describing the feature of Gamma-ray spectra are based on the analysis of fundamental interaction mechanism. These functions are combined to form a DRF model to fit experiment spectra by weighted least squares fitting method, parameters in this model are obtained simultaneously. Gaussian standard deviation can be calculated out by an individual procedure. Validity of the DRF model is demonstrated by fitting Co-60 and Cs-137 spectra measured by CsI(Tl) detector and comparing them to the normalized equivalent measured spectrum.

A simple device for determining the azimuthal location of a source of gamma radiation, using ideas from astrophysical gamma-ray burst detection, is described. A compact and robust detector built from eight identical modules, each comprising a plate of CsI(Tl) scintillator coupled to a photomultiplier tube, can locate a point source of gamma rays with degree-scale precision by comparing the count rates in the different modules. Sensitivity to uniform environmental background is minimal.
In this paper we present a method of scintillation detector energy calibration using the gamma-rays. The technique is based on the Compton scattering of gamma-rays in a scintillation detector and subsequent photoelectric absorption of the scattered photon in the Ge-detector. The novelty of this method is that the source of gamma rays, the germanium and scintillation detectors are immediately arranged adjacent to each other. The method presents an effective solution for the detectors consisting of a low atomic number materials, when the ratio between Compton effect and photoelectric absorption is large and the mean path of gamma-rays is comparable to the size of the detector. The technique can be used for the precision measurements of the scintillator light yield dependence on the electron energy.

A novel algorithm for the discrimination of neutron and {gamma}-ray with wavelet transform modulus maximum (WTMM) in an organic scintillation has been investigated. Voltage pulses arising from a BC501A organic liquid scintillation detector in a mixed radiation field have been recorded with a fast digital sampling oscilloscope. The performances of most pulse shape discrimination methods in scintillation detection systems using time-domain features of the pulses are affected intensively by noise. However, the WTMM method using frequency-domain features exhibits a strong insensitivity to noise and can be used to discriminate neutron and {gamma}-ray events based on their different asymptotic decay trend between the positive modulus maximum curve and the negative modulus maximum curve in the scale-space plane. This technique has been verified by the corresponding mixed-field data assessed by the time-of-flight (TOF) method and the frequency gradient analysis (FGA) method. It is shown that the characterization of neutron and gamma achieved by the discrimination method based on WTMM is consistent with that afforded by TOF and better than FGA. Moreover, because the WTMM method is it self presented to eliminate the noise, there is no need to make any pretreatment for the pulses.
The Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) , composed of two small satellites, is a new mission to monitor the Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) coincident with gravitational wave events with a FOV of 100% all-sky. GECAM detects and localizes 6 keV-5 MeV GRBs via 25 compact and novel Gamma-Ray Detectors (GRDs). Each GRD module is comprised of a LaBr3:Ce scintillator, SiPM array and preamplifier. A large dynamic range is achieved by the high gain and low gain channels of the preamplifier. This article discusses the performance of a GRD prototype which includes a set of radioactive sources in the range of 5.9-1332.5 keV. The energy resolution and energy to ADC channel conversion of the GRD module are also discussed. The typical energy resolution is 5.3% at 662 keV (FWHM) which meets the relevant requirements (< 8% at 662 keV). The energy calibration capability is evaluated by the measured intrinsic activity of LaBr3:Ce and Geant4 simulation results. The test results demonstrate the feasibility of the GECAM GRD design.

An 800L liquid xenon scintillation $gamma$ ray detector is being developed for the MEG experiment which will search for $mu^+tomathrm{e}^+gamma$ decay at the Paul Scherrer Institut. Absorption of scintillation light of xenon by impurities might possibly limit the performance of such a detector. We used a 100L prototype with an active volume of 372x372x496 mm$^3$ to study the scintillation light absorption. We have developed a method to evaluate the light absorption, separately from elastic scattering of light, by measuring cosmic rays and $alpha$ sources. By using a suitable purification technique, an absorption length longer than 100 cm has been achieved. The effects of the light absorption on the energy resolution are estimated by Monte Carlo simulation.
