We study the thermodynamics of various physical systems in the framework of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle that implies a minimal length uncertainty proportional to the Planck length. We present a general scheme to analytically calculate the quantum partition function of the physical systems to first order of the deformation parameter based on the behavior of the modified energy spectrum and compare our results with the classical approach. Also, we find the modified internal energy and heat capacity of the systems for the anti-Snyder framework.
In this paper, we study the thermodynamics of quantum harmonic oscillator in the Tsallis framework and in the presence of a minimal length uncertainty. The existence of the minimal length is motivated by various theories such as string theory, loop quantum gravity, and black-hole physics. We analytically obtain the partition function, probability function, internal energy, and the specific heat capacity of the vibrational quantum system for $1<q<frac{3}{2}$ and compare the results with those of Tsallis and Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics without the minimal length scale.
We study the conformal bootstrap constraints for 3D conformal field theories with a $mathbb{Z}_2$ or parity symmetry, assuming a single relevant scalar operator $epsilon$ that is invariant under the symmetry. When there is additionally a single relevant odd scalar $sigma$, we map out the allowed space of dimensions and three-point couplings of such Ising-like CFTs. If we allow a second relevant odd scalar $sigma$, we identify a feature in the allowed space compatible with 3D $mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal symmetry and conjecture that it corresponds to the minimal $mathcal{N}=1$ supersymmetric extension of the Ising CFT. This model has appeared in previous numerical bootstrap studies, as well as in proposals for emergent supersymmetry on the boundaries of topological phases of matter. Adding further constraints from 3D $mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal symmetry, we isolate this theory and use the numerical bootstrap to compute the leading scaling dimensions $Delta_{sigma} = Delta_{epsilon} - 1 = .58444(22)$ and three-point couplings $lambda_{sigmasigmaepsilon} = 1.0721(2)$ and $lambda_{epsilonepsilonepsilon} = 1.67(1)$. We additionally place bounds on the central charge and use the extremal functional method to estimate the dimensions of the next several operators in the spectrum. Based on our results we observe the possible exact relation $lambda_{epsilonepsilonepsilon}/lambda_{sigmasigmaepsilon} = tan(1)$.
Localization methods have produced explicit expressions for the sphere partition functions of (2,2) superconformal field theories. The mirror symmetry conjecture predicts an IR duality between pairs of Abelian gauged linear sigma models, a class of which describe families of Calabi-Yau manifolds realizable as complete intersections in toric varieties. We investigate this prediction for the sphere partition functions and find agreement between that of a model and its mirror up to the scheme-dependent ambiguities inherent in the definitions of these quantities.
Within asymptotically safe Quantum Einstein Gravity (QEG), the quantum 4-sphere is discussed as a specific example of a fractal spacetime manifold. The relation between the infrared cutoff built into the effective average action and the corresponding coarse graining scale is investigated. Analyzing the properties of the pertinent cutoff modes, the possibility that QEG generates a minimal length scale dynamically is explored. While there exists no minimal proper length, the QEG sphere appears to be fuzzy in the sense that there is a minimal angular separation below which two points cannot be resolved by the cutoff modes.
We study three-dimensional $mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric gauge theories on $mathcal{M}_{g,p}$, an oriented circle bundle of degree $p$ over a closed Riemann surface, $Sigma_g$. We compute the $mathcal{M}_{g,p}$ supersymmetric partition function and correlation functions of supersymmetric loop operators. This uncovers interesting relations between observables on manifolds of different topologies. In particular, the familiar supersymmetric partition function on the round $S^3$ can be understood as the expectation value of a so-called fibering operator on $S^2 times S^1$ with a topological twist. More generally, we show that the 3d $mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric partition functions (and supersymmetric Wilson loop correlation functions) on $mathcal{M}_{g,p}$ are fully determined by the two-dimensional A-twisted topological field theory obtained by compactifying the 3d theory on a circle. We give two complementary derivations of the result. We also discuss applications to F-maximization and to three-dimensional supersymmetric dualities.
